I would like to bring to your notice, that TVS Motor Company, has supplied poor quality parts in Apache RTR FI 160 cc motorbike.
I bought a TVS RTR FI 160 cc motorbike in October 2008. The product started giving problems in the first year of its operation itself.
Important components in the engine self starter were defective and suffered a break down. I called up at the 24 hours helpline number (provided by TVS) but no one picked up the phone. Finally, I had to drag my bike on foot, for a distance of 4 Km, to reach a local mechanic who was shocked to notice a breakdown in the self starter, at this early stage of bike's life. He further informed that the product was defective resulting in its early breakdown.
Even the tires (of TVS make), are defective and result in skidding, at the slightest presence of water on the road. I have complained about the same to TVS at its service station, where they informed me that this is a design problem with all TVS tires in Apache RTR, and the service station has received similar complains from other existing customers of the company. Even several discussion forum on internet clearly proves that users of bike feel that the tires are unsafe. Service center representative suggested me to change the tires to a normal brand (like MRF, CEAT etc.) in favor of my own safety. How can we allow the company to play with the safety of people for satiating their own egotistic needs and little higher profit margin. I would sincerely request the concerned authorities to check for the safety and quality certificate of the bike (specially tires).
I would request you to issue a show cause notice to the company for neglecting important safety basics in the vehicle.
Thanks & Regards,
Sumit Mittal
