Dear Sir,

My wife has been using the number[protected] since 2005. All of a sudden Vodafone asks her to submit the identity proof and address proof to the nearest Vodahone Care Store. Due to personal inconveniences and being the mother of a one year old she was unable to do this within the specified time. Vodafone disregarded the relationship of nearly 5 years and did not even bother to send a representative to collect the documents. The connection was finally disconnected sometime last week. The company never bothered to note that every month hard copies of the monthly statements were being send to the communication address and the receipt was acknowledged.

My wife had to make personal sacrifices to visit the nearest Vodafone service center (100ft. road, Indiranagar, Bangalore) and get the connection reactivated. To add insult to injury, it has now come to our notice that the Vodafone store people have put this up as a new connection and therefore it doesn't have any record of the long term relationship that was maintained. This further resulted in unsatisfactory responses when we had followed up on the Mobile Connect service that we had activated sometime earlier last week.

Also, when the connection was reactivated the vodafone store representatives insisted that the previous bill had to paid in full even before the due date on the monthly statement. This was quite unreasonable as (a) it was before due date (b) the credit limit on the connection was not even used up by 50%.

After the harassment and the objectionable hazels of getting the connection re-established, it was least entertaining to know that the connection is now categorized as a new one and any additional service can come through only after the verification of the documents.

To sum it up the experience has been horrible and un-encouraging for a 5 yeared customer. Hope that you would be able to look it this and rectify and restore the track and history with your company on record for the mobile number[protected].

A reply would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Best Regards,
Zi

The chain of mails below is an example where even after writing to a Nodal Officer, the response from Vodafone has been just for name sake and incomplete as per any reasonable cutomer service standards.

Hello Maithri,

Thanks for your response. However, your response doesn't answer any of my concerns listed down in my earlier mail. Even the clarification provided below doesn't state as to what documents that were maintained by Vodadfone on the connection were noncompliant with the DOT requirements. Or is it that Vodafone did not have necessary arrangements to store the documents or had misplaced the customer documents due to which new proofs were sought again from the customer???

When I write to a Nodal officer the least I would expect would an appropriate and detailed response.

Could you please reply to each my concerns with details?

Thanks.

Subject: Complaint on mobile phone connection: [protected]

Hello Maithri,

The reasons why I am writing this e-mail is because (most of earlier
history is available in the mails below):

1) Not fully convinced with the kind responses on my earlier mails as they
seem to be pre-formatted and is not a specific reply to our concerns
2) Not satisfied with the call center responses to our complaints on
multiple occasions and earlier many times we were asked to physically
visit the vodafone stores
3) Again on 9th March the outgoing call and other facilities were barred
on the connection [protected] and a complaint was raised with ref.
[protected]
4) A rebate is due for those no. of days where the call facilities were
barred in Feb 2010 due to incorrect credit limit .
5) A rebate is due for those no. of days where the call facilities were
barred in Mar 2010 due to incorrect billing cycle
6) Till now nobody has confirmed as to what documents were not in line
with the DOT requirements which led to this series of inconveniences and
unsatisfactory customer service
7) None of your customer service representatives have been to able to
re-establish the relationship number that proved the 5 year customer
lock-in status instead of new relationship number which is currently
assigned for this connection

It would be great if you could respond to each of the points detailed
above separately instead of a two line reply which wouldn't restore the
faith that the problems/issues have been looked into.

Thanks.

Hello Pavana,

Quite disappointing to see that the reply was a copy of a mail response to

another customer with number [protected].

Can you please detail as to what documents did not meet the DoT
requirements?

Further to my e-mail on 11th Feb, the outgoing facility was barred and we
had to visit the Vodaphone Store at Indiranagar twice (once on 11th Feb
evening and again on 15th Feb) to get the services reinstated.

From your response, I do not think that the complaint has been
investigated fully and therefore I am unhappy with the response. Please
investigate fully and give me an explanation as to why we should have
undergone this annoying ordeal. Also, please provide a rebate for the
number of days for which the services where suspended. Thanks.

Dear Zi,
I can relate to your concern. I did some google search on a similar issue that I am facing and came to this post. I got an SMS this noon that I need to submit my address proof at a vodafone store by 8PM today or else my connection would be suspended ! I thought it was a mistake, as my entire family is a vodafone family and I pay almost Rs.4500 every month for two connections that I have in my name (I'm a blackberry, ISD, Roaming freak ) without fail. I am a vodafone customer since 2006 February.

I called up the customer care to inquire about it, and I was given only a rude response that 'Sir, this is DOT asking us, we cant help it. its our policy to suspend your line if there is a delay in submitting your documents'. I was like 'what the hell, did DOT wake up today morning and asked for Abhilash Mana's address proof that they need it by 8PM today ?'. The response was cold. I called up their customer complaints number, and the response was more or less in the same lines. I asked them 'What if I were hospitalized ? Would you still ask me to submit the documents by 8PM today ? or what if I were not in India when the SMS came ? Or what if I was too busy today that I cant pay a visit to your office ?' The response I got was again, the same. "Sorry, thats our policy, at the most I can extend your timeline by an extra couple of hours tomorrow morning". I asked them 'Why are you threatening ? Isnt there something called timeline for customers to respond to your requests ? is it that you realized this morning my documents were missing and wanted them this evening " I got another funny response which was like "Sir we send these SMS in batches. So your number was today" ! Can you believe this ?

Well, I've nothing more to day, but I've decided to move out of vodafone. Enough of relationships and happiness to help. I've never been treated like this by any of my service providers !
