Dmart — faulty product

They have provided a product to me mentioning it’s a cooler and it works only as a fan. Not to be surprised that they would not add water and help you get it checked completely before you take it home. Once you are back to the store to tell them that it is not working fine they tell you to get it serviced and not replaced as the product may have gone wrong.
Why should a customer beat the cost of the product being faulty in a dayan time
