HDFC Bank — harassing 8th month pregnant for loan emi

Hi all,

I had a requirement of loan in 2018. And when hdfc reached out to me they said that opening a saving account is mandatory as the requested loan amount is big (12 lakh). And i was having icici bank account as my salary account. After the confirmation from the bank i have opened hdfc account savings account (A/c num:[protected]) in 2018 & loan amount is credited to the same account. After opening account they have informed me to maintain min balance of 10000 in the account if it is not maintained they will charge some amount as penalty. But as a normal employees i have reached out to the bank by saying that it is impossible for me to maintain 10000 and asked to suggest some other alternate option. Then they have suggested me to make same account as salary account then it will become 0 balance account and i did the same by reaching out to the bank. Contact person of the branch with whom i did this process is swarup sundar senapati (Am, karthik nagar branch, marathahalli, bangalore). But still i used to receive messages to maintain balance but i ignored as bank confirmed now my account is salary account.

And now on june 1st my account became inactive without intimating in mail or on call.. When i was doing swipe in hospital & shopping malls i was receiving inactive status. When i called bank i got to know that my account is inactive because my welcome letter is returned to bank. I have opened my account in 2018 aug and in 2019 they sent me welcome letter. But i am not staying in same place where i used to stay previously because i am 8th month pregnant now i had to come to my native as a maternity leave for 6 months. Hdfc customer care people raised a case to resolve my issue as my account is associated with loan account. Without activating it my loan will not be credited. And i told them as concern that i cant come to branch as there is no nearest hdfc branch available for me. Because i am staying in a village where hdfc is not available. I asked them to tell me any alternative approach or if my sister can update my address? They asked my sister to come to branch. When my sister visited the branch they said that they need my sign on the address update so she couriered me all the documents wherever my sign is required. I have not received it immediately as i am staying in native village it took 4 days time to receive courier.

Now the actual story began. While i am doing all these process i was receiving calls from hdfc customer care executives (Ashwini& chitra) asking for the loan payment. I clearly explained them the situation that my account is inactive from hdfc only. I am doing all the process whatever required. And also said i am carrying now and in 8th month pregnancy. So please don't call me multiple times as i am getting frustrated with the calls. But still they called me 20 times and talking very rudely. I am still not understanding what is my mistake here? I am responding for the calls, i am doing whatever required to unlock my account even though it is not my fault? As i told i am 8th month pregnancy and in bed rest i am supporting for calls. Still they are saying i need to cooperate. With all these calls i got frustrated and my bp increased and admitted to hospital for 4 hours. If you want i can submit the health documents also. I especially came to hyderabad by travelling for 5 hours to conclude with all these messy and submitted my proofs on 17th june. But again on 18th june i have received call from hdfc customer care and they were very rude with me and using very bad language. The worrest service i have never seen. And dnow today i have received message saying that approx 1000 rupees fine they are going to charge. Why i have to pay 1000 rupees fine? And also 500+ rs. Already deducted from my account for not maintaing min balance? Why they have debited from my accoun? All these are stuppid things which hdfc doing with the customers. Non scene bank which i have never seen. Chi chi.

Concerns are:

1. Usually welcome kit should come within 7 days opening bank account.. Why it is delayed? Why it is sent after 8 months?
2. Why my account is blocked without informing me?
3. I am paying every month emi' properly and this month only it became an issue even this month is also it is not at my fault.
4. I have money in my account which is sufficient for bank loans.
5. How cum you can take my mental peice when i am having 8th month pregnency? Due to all this we had distrubence in y family life?
5. Will hdfc pay all my loses?
6. I want to know why i have to pay the 1000 rupees penality when i am not in fault?
7. I am not going to spare if my cibil effect with this story. I am ready to file complaint against bank.

Hi hdfc team,

Today i have received call from one of the hdfc collection department manager nagaraj (Phone number:[protected] and asking for the loan amount as my account is still in inactive state. And also he is said my cibil score will effect even though it is not my mistake if i don't pay emi before 28th of june. I got frustrated after all theses discussion and raised a complaint in consumer help desk by explaining all the situation. My complaint number is -1406245. If you are still not helping me in this way i am ready to take it to consumer court for further discussion and fight for my rights. Below are the points to be noted.

Please imagine a pregnant women who is suggested for bed rest traveled for 250 km only for bank issue and spoiled her health. After that also issue is not resolved.
I lost mental peace which is most important now.
Family tensions are added because of this.
Cibil is impacting.
Apart from this, bank is charging me fine for my hard work.

Request for rbi:

Please help me here.

Today also we are getting calls from hdfc. They are harassing to pay money.

I am really wondering! A 8th pregnant woman asked to save her from repeated calls from hdfc as it is not her mistake. But nobody replied till now.in what kind of society, we are living! That too she sent email in the names of folks (Rbi, national legal services and hdfc all wings).

Eventhogh she doesn't have luck to get answer from a single. All ready we filed a complaint (Reference number: 1406245) in consumer forum. If nobody help us to get justice, we continue to fight after her delivery too.

Again i want to repeat my concerns:

1) welcome kit should come in / before 7 days. But they sent after 9 months time. Is it my wife's mistake?

2) they blocked her account without any intimation. She faced so many problems while pay the hospital bills because of this. Is it my wife's mistake?

3) when she called to the bank then she came to know that her account is blocked. Is it my wife's mistake?

4) doctor suggested to not travel even 1 km and to take complete bed rest. Same she conveyed to coustomer care by lifting their calls every time. Is it my wife's mistake?

5) she is maintaining 60 thousands in the same branch. Because of blocking who suffered? Hdfc (India's number 1 bank) or my wife (A normal employee)? She is really worried about next month also because the same account her salary account. She clearly requested them to take amount immediately once it is unblocked & faced 20 calls every day in this situation. Is it my wife's mistake?

6) as per their suggestion, she sent her sister to home branch and done with procedure even it was very different for her. Is it my wife's mistake?

7) after this also she was harrased with 20 calls every day. Finally she travelled 250 kms (6hrs) journey and done with procedure. Same conveyed to allotted person from hdfc bank. And completely down with bleeding & attacked with diabetes. Immediately we joined in fernandez hospital. Even she is in hospital, she got calls from hdfc. She lifted all the calls & answered. Is it my wife's mistake?

8) she paid all installments in time previously. This is first installment because of hdfc's blunder mistake she couldn't make it and she is harrased with hdfc every day.

I request you all, just imagine your sister, mother, wife or daughter in same situation and do the needed steps. Because of hdfc harrsment, we are completely down & hopeless. Even we had spoiled many relationships & have so many disturbances in our marriage life till one month.

Please justice us by giving proper solution about this. Awaiting for your reply.

Is the above response for what we lost!! If so it is not justice. Either they have send appology letter (mail & manually) or pay fine. By the way process is still under process. My wife didn't get salary till now. We have taken amount out side to pay other EMIs @ interest Rs.5. hope you folks fill my loss by proper solution.

Hi, still no response from hdfc (India's no.1 bank) !!
After a month of hell finally they unblocked my wife's account yesterday. I asked justice for what we lost! What 8th month pregnant lost!! Peace... Health... Money... Relationships etc...

Is this importance that is being given by India's number 1 bank to an innocent & common woman.

We already approached lawyer, if no response in a week, we go for legal proceedings. We already talked to consumer forum people to take further actions.

Our demands:
1) appology letter from bank (email & hard copy)
2) 5 lakhs fine
