[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — fraudulent call from hdfc life

Dear sir,
I wish to complain about call received by me from the so called termination department of hdfc life insurance.
The person introduced himself as rajeev saxena, relationship manager (Mob no. [protected]).
The person told me that i had taken a policy in the year 2010 and paid a premium of rs.30, 000/- towards the same. I was also given the policy number 10085328 dated 23 march, 2010 and was told that since i had paid the premium for only 1 year, my policy had gone to their department for termination. The amount with interest of the policy as on date is rs. 63, 000/-
I was told that if i take another policy (Hdfc life classic assure plus) by paying rs. 60000/-. My terminated policy would be merged with the new policy. After i receive the policy documents, i would just need to call him for the cancellation of my new policy and i would get rs. 1, 23, 000/- within 90 days.
I was told that the cheque of rs. 60, 000/- would be in the name of hdfc standard life insurance company ltd. Since the call was supposed to be from hdfc life and cheque was also in the name of hdfc, i didn't have a doubt.
The person arranged a call from another hdfc office. The person explained the entire policy details who then arranged to send a representative to my house to pick up the documents and collect the cheque of rs. 60, 000/-.
I was told that by rajeev saxena that when i receive a verification call from hdfc office, i should not mention about my earlier policy as according to the company rules, linking of earlier policy with new policy is not allowed. The authorization for linking earlier policy rests only with the termination department.
I correlated this statement with my experience of mobile operators where certain authoriztion rests only with the retention department. So, i complied with the instructions given to me.
Rajeev saxena told me that after receiving my insurance policy kit, i must inform him to cancel my policy; in that case, i would be paid rs. 1, 23, 000/- within 90 days. I again complied with what was told to me. As i had physically received my policy kit, there was no question of any doubt.

Thereafter, i had been following up with rajeev saxena but every time he told me that processing is getting delayed and i would surely receive the money. Last when i spoke to him, he told me that the cheque of rs. 1, 23, 000/- is ready and it would soon be despatched to me. Since, then no body picks up the phone and i also never not got any respose to my messages.
Two days back, i received a call from mobile no. [protected]. The person introduced himself as mohit bhardwaj from hdfc claim settlement department of your chennai office. He told me that my cheque of rs. 1, 23, 000/- is ready since long and asked me that why i didn't collect it.
When i told him that i had no confirmation of it from your end and further it is hdfc which had to send it to me, to my surprise, he told me that i need to pay third party verification fee of rs. 18, 450 to obtain noc and this amount would be refunded to me within 15 days. He told me that he would help me to obtain noc for which hdfc has a tie up with max company and that i would receive mail from the company for the payment.
As, i was suspicious of such strange terms, i requested him to send me a mail for the procedure (As explaind by him) which he has sent me. I also requested him to send me the photograph of the cheque of rs. 1, 23, 000/- which he initially refused saying that he was not authorized to do that but later sent the same through his personal mail id.
I request you to investigate the matter and let me know the facts and your report of the entire episode.
