Hotel Amar Agra — In regards to bill settlement

Hi, I have stayed with this hotel for a bit of relaxation while driving to Agra. They charged me about INR 2000.00 for a night stay. I had dinner at the hotel & was advised to settle the bill in the restaurant itself to get a discount of 15% on the bill. After the bill was presented to me, the waiting staff asked me to sign the bill copy & I asked him that I would settle at the time of check out. Later when I was leaving to the room, there was one of their guys who came to me & said that you need to settle the bill before you leave for the room or else you would not get the 15% discount. I thereby paid the bill in cash & did not take any receipt. A couple of hours later I went out for getting my car refueled by CNG. While getting this done I got a call from work that I need to report on duty the next morning urgently. As a matter o[censored]rgency I drove back to Delhi from Agra. On the way I tried to call up the hotel & inform them. However could not get connected. Later my cellphone battery died & I did not have any means to get the phone charged. In the morning when I woke up I had calls from the hotel to which I have informed them & advised that I would be sending the room keys in post. But they claim that they have the restaurant bill outstanding & is not paid. They are also threatening me to lodge a police complaint against this. I would request you to let me know how to settle this dispute.
