Indian Army — I am complaining about medical board which tested me for coast guard pilot officer post
I was a candidate of the coast guard and i applied for the post of pilot officers. My coast guard batch no is 170305/02/2017. Subsequent to my selection in ssb, i was told to go for medical examination to afcme, new delhi Afcme, through their medical board, rejected me on the grounds of substandard height and leg length, without giving any details of the shortfall in height and leg length. I appealed against the board and again afcme rejected me with same remarks. I finally appealed again through dgafms and again i was tested at afcme and was rejected on same grounds. I strongly contend that i possess the required standards of height and leg length, which are 162.5 cm and 99 cm respectively. Yet i was rejected means that there is something wrong somewhere. I am a commercial pilot license holder and i have 200 hrs of flying experience and never i faced any problem with my height or leg length. Yet after my first rejection i had undergone strenuous exercises under a trainer and suggestions of my family doctor and further enhanced my leg length and height. My family doctor is also a senior and qualified general physician To my shock, afcme continued to reject me based on my first report. Frankly speaking, i should have been cleared in my second testing itself, as my family doctor confirmed to me that i was well above the required standards at that time.in the second appeal, they cleared a girl candidate whose father was from air force, with similar leg length problem, with an advice to put on some weight in lower hip portion, and i was rejected. This had shaken my faith in the system as till then i was feeling that defence forces are always fair. Every time i went for the test, the different doctors who tested me had my earlier report with them already and tested me after going through the earlier reports. And hence their report cannot be taken as independent reports but only as biased reports. Also all the doctors who tested me were from air force only and hence there is a possibility of biased reports. My fears of biased reports were further confirmed by what happened while i was tested for the third time, which i recall as under. When i was tested for the third time, the doctor who took my test first cleared me for both height and leg length. Then he went to his cabin and came back after seeing my earlier records file and remarked that there was a quiet a good difference in height and leg length which he said was not possible. Hence he also rejected me. The third board result was given to me on 31 may 17. Sir, i earnestly request you to get my tests done by independent third party doctor and i am sure i will clear without any problem. Meanwhile, dgafms may be told to withhold dispatching the board results to coast guard. Since coast guard is likely to announce the final merit list, my case may be urgently disposed off, otherwise i am bound lose this opportunity. Sir i have heard that the government encourages women candidates to join defense forces and when i come to join with all the fervor, i find that far from encouraging, i have been put in problem as mentioned above. Please help me in time so that my career is not affected. Thanking you Yours sincerely S sirisha. [protected] [protected]@gmail.com Was this information helpful?
