Indian Post Office — Pilferage and substitution of goods sent vide Speed Post Parcel Service

Address:JALAHALLI EAST,BANGALORE URBAN- 560013
Website:www.indiapost.gov.in

I had sent 4 expensive traditional Silk Sarees vide PO No. EK[protected]IN, on the 19th of July from Bangalore PO to Ambala.

I Eugenie Wilson, Mobile no [protected] wish to make a complaint against the Service rendered by the Indian Post Office.

I had sent a package containing 4 individual boxes, was put into a big cartoon box, bubblewrapped, taped and despatched from Bangalore. The weight was 3469 gms.
The package was delivered on the 26th July at Ambala, with the outer packing intact.
However, on opening the box, only 1 saree was intact.

1 saree had been SWITCHED/ EXCHANGED with a neatly pressed OLD saree, that had falls and the peco done on its border.

There were 2 EMPTY boxes, in total 3 (THREE) sarees had been STOLEN.
The Invoice was sent along with the package, which was intact.

When the Receiver complained, the Post office said, that they cannot take any action, as the outer carton box HAD NO VISIBLE SIGN OF TAMPERING. (it was nicely taped using brown tape)
Secondly the Post office asked the receiver about the weight of the package, and when the receiver could not give an immediate response (as it is difficult for the receiver to confirm the weight off hand, the Post office washed away its responsibility.

When I complained the PO then asked me why I hadn't INSUREDthe package and in fact abused me and said that I should use the PO only for Letters and NOT for PACKAGES.

I was NEVER ADVICED at the time of booking, about Indurance, nor was I advice on any alternate method of PAcking and sealing my parcel.

The person in charge, assured me it would be bagged along with other items to Ambala and the BAg would be SEALED and NOT OPENED until it reached the destination Ambala.

With this assurance, I TRUSTED the officials on duty and sent the package.

I am deeply distressed at the lackadaisical attitude of the PO authorities, exonerating themselves from all responsibilities. They kept shouting and telling me to Lodge an Online Complaint. I filed a complaint and received an acknowledgement that they will be looking into the matter. Already more than 10 days have elapsed and NO RESPONSE and the wedding, will be conducted without these NEW SAREES.

The sarees were sent to a friend (a widow) who was arranging her daughter's wedding and is now unable to buy another set of sarees that she had purchased for the various ceremonies.

I request you to Please look into the matter IMMEDIATELY.

Sincerely
