Karma - The Fitness Studio — Regarding non-refund of yearly gym membership fees by Karma gym in spite of non-availment of their services

Hi,

I am Subhadeep Ganguli, an Indian citizen. Karma-The Fitness Studio gym located in Kolkata, West Bengal had taken a deposit of Rs. 17120 from me as their yearly membership charge in January 2020. Due to the nationwide lockdown, the gym shut down in March 2020 and reopened on August 5, 2020.

During the lockdown period, I told Karma gym's admin that I won't be able to pursue gymming anymore in order to keep myself, my family members and neighbours safe from the COVID-19 pandemic. I asked them to refund me the net amount after striking off their required fees from the Rs. 17120 that I had deposited. However, they refused to give any refunds. They have taken that entire amount in spite of me not availing their services anymore.

I am an ordinary middle class citizen and this fraud committed by Karma gym has impacted me a lot financially.

I request your help regarding this matter.
