I am an unwed mother. A few months ago, i visited om scan centre for my very first scan. The receptionist asked me my name and then my husband's name to which i replied that i am not married. After hearing that, she denied to extend me the service. I even talked to the doctor running the centre and he reiterated the same reason. He further mentioned the possibility of being harassed my municipal officials for undertaking sonography of an unwed woman. I am curious how it is illegal or punishable to provide sonography services to women who are not married. Is is necessary for a woman to be married to have a child to not suffer from discrimination?
