Beginning the New Year on an exciting note, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare announced its foray into the toothpaste category in India, with its biggest global brand- Sensodyne Toothpaste. Sensodyne is the world's leading toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth and is the fastest growing GSK Oral Care Brands. It has a legacy of being a highly recommended brand by dentists across the globe.Sensitive Teeth is a condition where one feels a sharp, short pain in the tooth while eating or drinking anything hot/ cold/ sweet. Most consumers are unaware of tooth sensitivity as a problem & available simple solutions for the same. According to various studies, the incidence of sensitivity in India is currently estimated at 17% and only 4% of the total sensitivity sufferers visit a dentist.Mr. Shubhajit Sen, Executive Vice President - Marketing, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, India, commenting on the launch, said, "GSKCH has always endeavored to develop new products catering to the constantly changing needs of its consumers. It strives to provide them with products that help them live a better life. Tooth sensitivity is a growing occurrence amongst Indians, but unfortunately the awareness and solution around the issue continues to be low. Sensodyne is a consumer preferred and expert endorsed brand globally and we are excited to bring the benefits of this product to Indian consumers."The national launch of Sensodyne was preceded by successful test marketing in South India. The launch will be supported by a strong advertising and marketing campaign and 360 degree activation called Chill Test. The Chill Test will create awareness on the important issue of sensitivity amongst consumers and give them a chance to get themselves tested for dental sensitivity. The marketing plan also includes an extensive outreach to Dentists and Dental Colleges to create advocates for the brand.
