Ola Cabs — Bad experience with ola share

Ola is the typical example of a company that used all sweet tactics at the beginning to woo the customer and slowly as they built a customer base, started behaving rude and non caring, to the point of compromising customer safety. Here is the nasty experience i had with their ola share on 21-july-2016.

I had made a booking ref osn[protected]around 8:30pm to be dropped at a place just a few km away. The app had shown me that the allotted cab was travelling with another person so i was almost sure that i will be able to make it to the destination at the time i planned. The pickup came and i boarded the indica tn02ap 1236 at 8:45pm. Since i had ola money there was no prepaid amount.

The cab was empty unlike the status shown in the app and the driver said that the first pickup had not boarded and he had to now go back and pick him. The cab went more than a km in the direction opposite to where i had wanted to go. He parked on the main road and started trying the person's number and there was no response. He kept trying multiple times with again the same result. I told him that i had to make an appointment and could not wait all day, to which he showed me his phone where some ola timer was expected to time-out in 3 minutes so he could start. But the timer never seemed to reach its end and we waited there for more than 10 min. 8:55pm - 9:12pm

I unfortunately could not afford any more delay, but the driver sternly said there is nothing he could do. At such unearthly hours i then had to get out and hail an auto. For those who know autos in chennai you know how cut-throat they are and esp at such hours as after 9pm. I agreed to pay the exorbitant fare and was finally dropped at my destination.

The response from ola customer support team to my complaint (Ref[protected] was even more disappointing. They insisted that ola share rides are prepaid and they could not refund the money if the customer decided to cancel the ride midway for whatever reason. One yaswanth narayan r and atheeq ahmed from their team proved most unhelpful. True to the words of the driver who had told me that even if you complain nothing will happen to me, i was left bleak-faced and wondering why i had ever done the booking.

I would like to note here that ola had done a mistake by refusing to refund the amount which was just 55/-. I have made multiple rides with them in the past that easily comes to above a grand, so this amount is not really worth much. But they have lost a customer in me for sure, which is all the future payments they could have got from me. I always knew that uber had a better pool of drivers who were more sensible than those in ola. My only complaint was that they never launched uber pool in chennai, unlike in bangalore. But now even without that i will go for their regular cab service that comes at 6/- per km. Much less hassle than the rude and stubborn ola customer care and their mindless drivers.

I feel Ola does not deserve a rating either. Ola share is worst experience I have every had. Last evening I booked the cab. I booked the cab at 6.20 pm and cab arrived by 6.41 pm. After this when I boarded the cab the Ola app started a 6 minutes wait time as the app was looking for another customer. The cab waited there for 6 minutes and there was no booking till that time. So the driver started the trip. After crossing a distance of about 2 kms the driver got the booking from same location where I boarded. So he again drive back to that location and this all process took about 30 minutes more. So by the time it was already 7.15 pm that another customer boarded the cab. Now application booked the customer whose drop was prior to me even though I have booked the cab prior to the other customer. The drop location of other traveler was not on my route. It was somewhere in opposite direction. By the time she got drop it was already 8. Then I reached safely at my location by 9. So this whole process took me around 2 hrs 45 minute. In between I contacted customer care, the support guy said in Ola share such deviations do happen. he said "If you don't like share then you can go for micro and mini". Then my question is why the hell you people are providing share. Yes of course to make more money and break your customers. After such a bad experience I would never ever travel by Ola. And I request others to not to travel by Ola. Who knows when you will reach at your destination. May be it can 12 hours.
