I am writing this letter to you after being harassed by your collection team on and off for last 15 years.

Short summary of my case,

1. I have taken one SBI card in 2006 through their direct sales channel in one of the Mumbai shopping malls.
2. The whole event started in May 2006 when I saw a statement (attached "May 2006") mentioning outstanding of Rs. 13143.91. It may be recalled I have made the payment in full in the month of March 2006 (Attached " Zero Balance on March") and subsequently got the zero balance statement as well. I have cancelled the card immediately there after. If you see the statement of May 2006 the activities mentioned are all finance charges along with a surprising opening balance of 12403.50 without any break up or justification. As I have paid the money in full in the month of March so there was no statement for the month of April.
3. From August 2006 till September 2007 I have written 3-4 letters asking for breakup of these expenses (Rs. 12403.50/-, mails attached), and still waiting for the same. In the meantime, SBI has sent some collection agents to my home and they misbehaved with my family couple of times. When I called up the call center for further clarification everybody wanted to wash off their hands from this issue.
4. In Feb 2008 I got a call from a collection agency saying you pay Rs. 9215/- as a one time settlement amount to avoid further harassment. When asked about the justification of such amount, it was told better you pay or we will make sure your credit report is impacted so badly that you cannot get any further finance in future.
5. After that I have made a written complaint to the SBI branch (Andheri West) opposite to Shopper's Stop asking for clarification. Next 6 months nothing has come suddenly from Feb 2009 the statement again started coming with lots of finance charges associated with it. Whenever I called the customer care they could not find my account in active status hence could not provide any details.
6. Finally in the month of June I have received another letter (Attached "Legal Notice") along with the June statement (Attached "Current Month Statement") from your card division warning me about legal actions if I don't clear the entire amount in next 7 days time from the receipt of the letter. I could not write to you before as I was on Europe travel and also it took time to find out my old statements etc.
7. I have responded to that notice again in 2009 itself and thereafter nothing happened till 2020, then again I got another legal notice and this time the amount accrued with interest charges and the due has now become 103166.86. To which my lawyer has responded again but no response till date as usual, now again a second reminder is sent.
8. Interestingly, Paisabazar is calling me and trying to soliciting the case through settlement, they are giving all “good suggestions” like pay this due in installments otherwise the credit score will be further impacted etc. When I checked with Transunion about my credit score they said I need to sort this out with the respective financial institution/s, they will not be able to help. So I am again back to square one. Once side no one responds to my mails till date on the other hand they are good in sending legal notices after 5, 7 or even 10 years. Tell me why do I accept this non-sense and pay this due? What kind of business is this?

I have cancelled the card way back in April 2006 but still the harassment continues.

Need some respite in this regard.
