[Resolved]  Sun Direct — sun direct ota issue - looting public with faulty devices and forcing to purchase again new device

From[protected] onwards, set top box started giving a message of ota upgradation and will restart automatically. Its been 4 days now neither it is getting upgraded nor working fine. Until the mentioned date it was running smooth and fine. When i contacted customer care they assigned a technician. Technician is now saying that the set-top box is not getting upgraded and said to purchase another set top box on a cost of rs. 700/-. When i inquired with the technician i got to know that the same ota upgradation is successfully done in some other set-top boxes and working fine. And the saddest part is technician said the he is not going to give any service report/device inspection report like what is the problem in device, whether it is resolvable or not, if it needs to be replaced with new what is the cause for such replacement. And he also confirmed that there is no such policy from sun direct
Now confirm me why should i pay rs.700/- for another set-top box where there no mistake of mine
1. Because of the ota push form the backend the technical error occured and now the box is not working
1. I have not asked for any upgradation on my existing set-top box
2. There is no intimation regarding ota upgradation and no one asked me whether upgradation required or not

Without my intimation without my knowledge sun direct company has thrown some ota upgrdation to the set-top box due to which the set-top box is not working now and asking me to purchase another set-top box.

Please answer me in this regard and i'm going to consumer forum based on your reply

It has been an year since the below complaint raised by me, and the issue again started exactly after an year. Set Top Box (smart card number: [protected]; box model: K[protected] ) started giving a message of OTA upgradation and will restart automatically. every 10 sec the software updation massage appears on screen and for another 10 minutes updation will run and after 10 sec again the massage o[censored]pdation will appear. Its been 10 days now neither it is getting upgraded nor working fine.

When the same issue faced by us last year (can find the complaint details in the trailing mail), software updation was stopped after the complaint and there was no issue and STB is working fine till this month. And now the same issue started again as mentioned above. When we contacted the Customer Care service on [protected] and Local Technician, getting the same old answer cum resolution by them that "Please Purchase another Set Top Box @Rs.499/- and Technician charges of Rs.150/-"
Kindly confirm us the "Customer Mistake" to pay these additional charges as we have not requested for any software updation from my end.

Now confirm me why should I pay Rs.650/- for another set-top box where there is no mistake of mine

I am waiting for one hour more time but not activated
Lost month I will recharged amount 210rs normal channels but this month I will recharge 270rs HD channels pack but iam waiting for one hour
Still iam recharged timings 7pm waiting timings 1hour more
