I write to put forward a complaint regarding a one of the recently published photo as the winning entry of TOI's my tiger tale contest.
-published on 20th July, 2023
-published by Mr Pratip Banerjee
- the photo tagged as 'fierce hunter: Taruna Mathur' actually belongs to well-known tiger photographer Mr Harsha Narasimhamurthy. You can see his watermark name in this picture as well near the antlers of the dead spotted deer being carried in the tiger's mouth.
- kindly remove this photo from the entry or give due credit and recognition to the person who has taken this picture and not to someone who is fraudulently using someone else's photography for winning a contest. This just shows the lack of ethics in these contestants and also puts forward a lackadaisical image to the contest itself where the entries were not scrutinised well enough for their authenticity in the first place. A paper like TOI should do better!

I have also attached the problematic photograph here. In this you can see the watermark of the original copyright owner, Harsha Narasimhamurthy in the picture itself, if one looks closely right in the middle of the photo.
