TUI — bumped off flight

In january this year we booked and paid for 2 return flights to la palma departing in december with tui. I received an email in july asking me to phone them as there was a change to our flights. As we were not at home it would have ment a long mobile phone call if tried the email route but without success. It seems they didn’t want to put anything in writing as will become apparent. When we returned home i made the call. I was told that all flights before 15th december had been cancelled, our flight was thursday 13th. I was offered flights on sunday 16th december and when i asked about the the sunday before 9th december i was again told that all the flights before the 15 were cancelled, like talking to a robot. Reluctantly we accepted the flight on the 16th. Several weeks later i get another email, please phone as there had been a change to our holiday. This time it was nearly an hour call. I was told our flight out had been cancelled and after telling the person on the other end of the phone that i had checked and could actually book a holiday going on the same day but there was only 3 seats left, i still was lied to. We eventually took the refund as we didn’t want to go through this process again in 6 - 7 weeks time or even worse be left stranded at the airport. After getting the refund i checked the flight availability and there was now 5 seats available.
