Western Digital — Cheated Me By Providing A Different Model Hard Disk During Onsite Warranty For 5 Years Against A WD CAVIAR BLACK Internal 1TB Hard Disk

Address:Kolkata, West Bengal, 700150

I purchased a hard disk in the year 2010 of western digital.the model is WD Caviar Black 1TB.Only after using it for 1 year or so, it failed completely and i lost many data as well since it completely failed suddenly without even giving the time for backup.i did an RMA and WD has replaced me with a same model hard disk but i didn't know that was a brand new replacement or a refurbished hard disk.but it ran well for around around 2 and a half yrs or so, and then it also failed suddenly.since i had almost 1 yr 6 months approx.warranty left, i again went for an RMA.they again replaced me with another one and both of the replacement i got were not seal packed.the issue is definitely not that because just after the warranty ended a month or 2 later, this one also started failing.i had a real panic of taking backups of all my important data.I purchased the new Western Digital Black Hard Disk from a top retailer in our city who is fortunately known to me.The day i went to the shop for purchasing it, i had the existing replaced hard disk with me and fortunately the retailer saw that and he took it from my hand and said that they have fooled me since this is not a WD Caviar Black Hard Disk but a WD 10EARS named Hard Drive which looks almost exactly the same like WD Caviar Black But as far as performance and stability is concerned, its way below the original CAVIAR BLACK HDD and besides its definitely not a brand new replacement even provided by WD that's why it failed so quickly. Before that i have no idea which replacement was provided to me since Internal HDD are present inside cabinet and no one takes out regularly until and unless there's any particular need of it.i had 100% faith on WD and never imagine such a big and reputed international company can do such tricky stuffs.even the new HDD provided to me was also 2 months short of warranty and i mailed them with the new one issue along with the earlier cheating they did.i got a call back from them a couple of days later and they just shown a sympathy to me about the earlier replacement matter and told me they are extending the warranty of the new one with an extra 1mnth or so against that existing fraud made with me.i even lost many important data as well which are simply not recoverable.i had no other option left since they said the HDD was already out of warranty.I want to ask WD is that a fair judgement made by them to just hide their fault, they gave me an eye wash 1 month more warranty on the new one.i even asked the retailer to replace me the new one but he said they dont have a second piece of the same model and i was stunned to know that which means these 1tb hard disks doesn't sell much and remain fallen and he was like leaving a breathe of relief after selling it to me i really felt that while purchasing it, but only felt when i checked its warranty online and even a brand new item is running out of warranty by 2-3 mnths really funny to know that.he asked me to call customer care and ask them what to do and i did and for both, they gave me an extra 1month warranty even after knowing that inspite of all these tricks, i again went for WD for the trust and faith over them to get fooled again.i am now planning and eager to sell out this new one which is in top condition now since its hardly used for 3-4 mnths now but if it suddenly fails, i am feared, they will repeat the same tricks again.so better go for a different brand and there are numerous top brands available out there.i had 2 hard disks of different brands before but their replacement atleast came of the same model.thank you Western Digital.real shame of playing with innocent consumers as all o[censored]s are not experts to verify model details and all and trust what top companies provide us.regards.

I brought my HDD from WD with three years of warranty. The s. no. is WXA1E9479TCN.

I am unable to locate the address of WD at Dehradun. The address detail available in internet is wrong.

I even can not get the correct phone nos of executives.

I got some phones but no one is picking up call.
