Shine India Trip (SIT) is one of the worst travel agents we
have encountered. We are group of 16 senior citizens, we had booked a package
to Gujrat for 7 days, and it was by far the worst ever trip. We asked them to
book train tickets from Delhi to Ahmedabad for the entire group (outside the
package). The first mistake made was that the senior citizen discount was not
availed. Either the travel agent is foolish to be not aware of this, or is
cheating us. We then asked for cancellation of booked tickets, so that we could
book ourselves and avail the discount. For cancellation, the amount asked was
800 Rs instead of standard 125 Rs (http://www.indianrail.gov.in/refund_Rules.html)
per person! On what basis?
We had paid the complete package amount (including local transport
and hotel) before starting our journey. None of the hotels had received their
money and we had great troubles in checking in everywhere. SIT did not have any
regard for senior citizens and they harassed and blackmailed us. Even the operator
of the 16 seater van had not received the money and he had been ‘advised’ by
SIT to take money for petrol from us and to park the van in the middle of nowhere
if we refused! All the hotels said if we need a written confirmation about tour operator's misbehaviour then they would be more than happy to provide a confirmation
The entire tour we kept calling SIT regarding the service but
there was no response. We were stranded in Gujarat, all thanks to this inconsiderate
