TATA Travel Card – Multi Currency
Sir,
I had bought a TATA Travel Card – Multi Currency in 2017 for my travel abroad that year.
The card, valid for five years, has since expired. Since there is some balance amount in there I contacted the toll free number given in there which is of AXIS Bank. The Lady who answered my call told me after their usual privacy and security checks that I could get a new card or else I could encash the balance in the card. I told her I would like to encash as I have no plans to go abroad. She then suggested to go to any AXIS Bank Branch with my card and copy of my passport against which the card was issued.
But to my dismay when I went to AXIS Bank, Thane West, Maharashtra, Ms. Kavita, the lady who attended me, told me that I have to produce ORIGINAL PASSPORT, PAN Card and Aadhar Card. I told Ms. Kavita that their call centre lady did not tell me all those and I hadn’t carried all those except the Forex Card and Passport. I also told Ms. Kavita that I was a customer of AXIS Bank and all those details would be available in their records. But Ms. Kavita was not at all helpful and she rudely said that it won’t do. Ms. Kavita sent me back without doing my job. Ms. Kavita did not offer any alternate solution as well.
I am a very senior citizen and I did not expect such treatment at the hands of AXIS Bank. I opened this account with AXIS bank recently thinking that I would get a better treatment and service as I am very unhappy with my PSU Bank (Union Bank Of India). I should think that I did a grave mistake!
Now I am at the mercy of Ms. Kavita if I want the balance amount encashed. I have to go back to her (or any other officer like Ms Kavita) with all those papers/documents.
Do I have a choice!
The Axis Bank Call Centre people are not trained by AXIS Bank properly. Although the
lady did not know that my Passport against which the forex card was issued has since
expired she did not enquire about it or did not tell me to carry the current Passport. Ms.
Kavita, the lady who sent me back, but wanted the current passport. The Call center
lady did not guide me correctly.
So much so for Private sector Bank as well!
