Club Mahindra Holidays — Booking confirmed even though the resort was closed due to Covid-19

This complaint is in regards to Club Mahindra.

I made my first booking on 17/06/ 2021 for my stay at Club Mahindra Cherai on 17/07/2021

My second booking was on 12/07/2021 for my stay at the same resort at Cherai on 16/07/2021

For both the above reservations I have got numerous emails and text confirmations, including asking me to prebook the food during my period of stay.

The welcome emails had the Covid-19 protocols followed at the resort, reassurance of the hygiene at the resort and expectations from guest.

Further to this I had a telephonic conversation with Club Mahindra Cherai staff at 10:30 am on 14/07/2021 who was well aware of my holiday booking.

On 15/07/2021, I get a call from Club Mahindra that my reservation for the nect day is cancelled.

Above to all these I get a mail from Club Mahindra on 15/07/2021 stating " We are disappointed that you are unable to avail your holiday this time and we are sure it must be due to unavoidable circumstances". CAN CLUB MAHINDRA STOOP TO THIS LEVEL, BOOK MY HOLIDAY WHEN A RESORT IS CLOSED, CANCEL MY HOLIDAY AND PUT THAT ON ME????????

Further to this when I checked the availability further to receiving the mail on 15/07/2021, Club Mahindra App still showed the availability for the Cherai resort on the date my bookings was cancelled.

This holiday was to celebrate my Son's 10th birthday at your resort and if Cherai was not available I would have booked any other resort and done my travel plan accordingly. My family is utterly disappointed and dont trust Club Mahindra any more. Because of the last minute cancellation I was unable to book anywhere else and thank you Club Mahindra - Club Mahindra ruined my plan of giving a memorable birthday for my son. NOW IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL MAKE EVERY MOMENT MAGICAL?????

Club Mahindra has taken my booking confirmation even when their resort was closed.
On further investigation the Cherai resort was closed before the holiday booking of mine was done as the TPR rate was high in that area.
Further they assumed that the resort could be opened on 16/07/2021. This shows Club Mahindra's insestivity towards their members. Once a booking is confirmed I made the travel plans and started my Journey from Chennai to Cochin.
Now Club Mahindra says that they informed me one day in advance that the booking is cancelled and hence they are not responsible for it whicle its the Governemnt who did not allow them to open the resort.

I have lost my money travelling for this holiday and had to undergo hardships as family as the booking was closed in the last minute by Club Mahindra.

I have attached all the communucations I had with Club Mahindra.

Club mahindra attracts people for only 2 yrs, then they leave their customer on their own. They never give u booking and u exhausted and frustrated but club mahindra ask u everyone for ASF.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE "CLUB MAHINDRA MEMBERSHIP"


* they say their facility is 5 start + above, ask them to show the letter/approval from tourism dept.
* ask clearly about the payment options and if instalments ask to show you the breakup details in total, so you know what amounts you are paying.
* ask clearLy about on ASF (annual fee for maintenance) in detail, terms and payment yearly basis, … so you how it built and after 10 yrs what amount you going to pay like that…
* ask the asf example for 1st 12 years, so you know how it growing.
* ask the ratio between the total number of members v/s number of total rooms that Mahindra holding (by total and pkg option wise like blue or purple)
* The amounts that you paying ie membership fee + asf only for their room rent and maintenance only, no flooding/ activities.
* ask details on food options, eg: can we bring outside food and eat in hotel or book by swiggy etc… (my side answer is a big NO.)
* what are the issues if in case you are not able to pay the instalment or asf for some genuine reason? (the answer is you cannot book vacations even if you have any days in hand)
* What is the cancellation policy? If in case you want to cancel your membership after joining and paying a full fee or some instalments? What is the procedure and how much do you get back?
(my answer here… you do not get any money, whatever you paid is for them :))
* what are the policies or procedures if you want to gift your holidays to someone?
* what are the policies or procedures if you want to sell your membership? What are the expenses involved for you?
* till you take a membership they treat you as a king but after that make you a beggar for rights/ needs.
* they will not respond/ reply to any emails you sent to them.
* they will not support anything as a part of customer supports….every time and everything they talk about for them is favored.
* ask to show the terms and conditions booklet clearly and read 100% points (it's my humble request, please please). Before you sign anything with them about the membership.
* room they say 5* facility but lower than 3* …. Ask their facilities to know by yourself to compare a 5* facility v/s their facility
* booking procedure, … they need you to book vacation 4 months early? If you cancel once booking then there is a cancellation charge, ask the breakups on this.
do you think really that you can plan your vacation booking at such an early time?

KILLING RULES
* food, they do not allow from outside and we forced to eat from them… for an adult per day (breakfast/ lunch/dinner) charges around 1, 500/- per a person. Excluding 18% tax.
* for everything they charge an 18% service tax
* they say 5* facility but, lower than 3* …. Ask their facilities to know by yourself to compare a 5* facility v/s their facility
* Membership fee if instalments then 15.5% they charges which are so high in the market. Better you can take a loan from the bank and then pay to them.
* asf every year 6-8% increased and you have to pay 25 years saying them this for maintenance
* on membership fee, 60% as admission fee which is straight away non-refunded and also the asf that you paying yearly…balance 40% also with additional rules and taxes, so left nothing.
* 21 days you can hold the vacations (7 days/year based), so when it comes 4th year ie 28 days then the 1st 7 days you will lose.
* 7N you forced to stay in their site paying for high food and with fewer activities….

THINK WISELY BEFORE SIGNING
* Ex: you planning to take a "blue season/ studio apartment", it means for 3 adults.
membership fee with interest is 388, 182 (9, 9907 * 36 months)
anuual fee you pays, initially it will be 17, 000 but every year 6-8% increased, for 25 yrs you pay 800, 000
food you 787, 500 (based 3 adults * 7 days/ year * 25 years)
so total = 1, 967, 475
avg per year - 78, 699 (25 yrs based)
avg day/ year - 11, 300

don’t you think you can't find your dream place/ area to stay at lower than this price and without any hesitations?
you can book there at your convenience and free food/ welcome drink/ free access to their facilities and clean facility.
