[Resolved] 5 Kumaon Regiment (Indian Army) — Selling of Canteen Product for open Market
It has became a regular practice for the 5 Kumaon Regiment, Hasimara, C/O 99 APO to sale their canteen goods to the civilians in open market. From last 5 days I have observed that the canteen goods loaded car is coming to Alipurduar town which is a subdivision of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal and regularly selling their goods to the open market. As a result the shopkeeper from the city are teking a undue adventage and making a good profit without paying the proper sell tax to the Governmet. As per my knowledge is concern, I know that the CSD/ Armed Forces canteen goods are only for the Defence personnel,ESM & their dependents. If being a part of the prestigious department from the Indian Armed Forces does this type o[censored]nethical practices then it is really a shameful part of our Saluting Army. I really don't understand how it could be possible for Indian Army to perform this short of activity which can really make a huge dammage to the Economical status of the market and on the same ratio it is making a safe passage for the shopkeeper for an illigal practices. I hope the matter should be considerd seriously and the practice should be stopped immediatly as we all beleave on Indian Army. Jai Hind, Bharat Mata ki Jai Was this information helpful?

Dear Mr das, With due respect to your sentiments for national economic & other concerns, It is pertinetent to mention that expressing you opinion about an elite indian army unit without any, whatsoever, evidence is a act of sabotage to the nation. The indian army has its own well maintained and adequate system of checks and balance while dealing with CSD and other stores. Everybody in the army are well aware of the consequences of not abiding by the law, specially for a meager csd profit. The whole procedure of demand and sale of CSD products is audited and accounted (for your info). Also the military police maintains a strict vigilance for pilferage. The only pilferage which might support your most unlikely observation is selling of CSD products by dependants/csd card holders. Therefore your allegations of "car load" of CSD products being sold in open market is infructuous. A prestigious unit like 5 KUMAON, which has its rich share in the history of Indian Army, can never indulge in such a disgraceful act. Indian Army lives by the tradition... tradition of a few passionate men out of millions ready to make SACRIFICE. Respect it!
