abnamro credit card — mis-guided by the service executives and late payment has been charged without sending any statement

dear sir,
i am snigdharup gain, my credit card number is 54153824xxxx8487. i have made one transaction on 12th july'08 but i didn't get any statement for that transaction till date.i have placed request to the customer service so many times about my statement and my billing date. every time i used to listen different billing dates. whenever i asked about my statement, your customer service told me that the statement was in process and would be delivered soon. today when i again called up to the customer service, one lady picked up the call and told me that the late payment had already been charged. when i asked about the statement, she said that the statement has already delivered and asked me to pay the bill with late payment very rudely. but still today(23rd sep'08) i haven't received any kind of statement from the bank. i don't even know my billing date and moreover without any statement i couldn't make payment also. i have again placed one request toady itself to the customer service. i think the total procedure was very much annoying that's why i am placing this complain.

hope you will resolve it as soon as possible.

thanking you
snigdharup gain

I had a similar problem with this bank, I was charged for a holiday package which i did not ask for.The money kept on increasinfg with late fees etc, renewal charges. On reminding the bank about this problem they said not to worry we will correct it.next month same thing plus late fees !! now I have been unable to get a loan because of their stupid problem not mine
i was not knowing so many aggreived customers.my problem also was same. i was charged without statemnt and i was confiused on why the charges have appeared . later i found out that it is for a card upgradation which was told to be free and a holiday package jet set go which i never availed. the charges went on increasing and finally they managed to take out 6000/- from me which i paid to avoid the mental torture by the bank employees who believe they are from some other planet.

Hi,

I refer to your bill dated 05.04.09 and confirm that I already cleared my dues within due date but you have levied charges for Rs. 350.00, Rs. 75.00, Rs. 99.19 and Rs. 531.13. These charges are not at all legitimate and I request you to withdraw the charges. Further Rs. 4999.00 was debited to my a/c as 4 seasons fee debit and I am not at all interested of this promotion.

Your recent bill for Rs. 6322.89 being due date 25.05.09 is not correct. I paid Rs. 755.00 on 24.04.09 within the due date and there was no outstanding amount to be paid by me.

I request you to reverse all the charges and regularise my a/c immediately.
Hope to receive your positive response soon.

Regards,
Manisha Sarkar

Hi,

I am surprised to receive your statement dated 05.03.09. I paid outstanding amount due to my last statement for Rs. 508.00 on 23.02.09 by cheque no. 042356. I dropped the cheque at your Brabourne Road branch well within the due date.

I observed that you have again debited late fee for Rs. 350.00, finance charges for Rs. 16.50 and service tax for Rs.. 37.74 on 02.03.09, 05.03.09 and 05.03.09 respectively.

It has been your practice to penalise the customer without any reason and they have been treated at your mercy.

Please reverse charges from my account immediately otherwise I will be forced to refer the matter to banking ombudsman for justice.

During the last few months you have promised for so many luxurious benefits but nothing has been materialised. Please try to refrain yourself from this sort of misselling.

Please look at your internal system and bridge the gap so that customers do not suffer unnecessarily in spite of payment in time.

I will not make any payment to this bill and request you to refund all the charges debited so far to my a/c.

Regards,
Manisha Sarkar

Dear Ms. Sarkar,

This is in reference to your email dated March 01, 2009.

We wish to inform you that we are in receipt of your cheque number 42356 for the amount of Rs. 508.00 on March 03, 2009.

We would like to inform you that cheque is send for clearing on the same day of receipt and payment is applied basis instruction received from your bank.

We wish to reiterate that the late fees are levied due to non payment of at least minimum amount due within payment due date.

The finance charges are levied due to non payment of total outstanding within payment due date.

We would also like to clarify that interest on any retail transaction is levied if the total outstanding is not paid within due date and this is calculated from the date of transaction until the total amount is fully repaid.

Therefore we express our inability in reversing these charges.

You can now also make your credit card payments online through NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) by quoting your 16 digit ABN AMRO credit card number, and the ABN AMRO Bank's IFSC code - ABNA0200001 .

You can have your card account enrolled for the Auto-Debit / ECS facility by which the minimum amount / total amount will automatically get debited from your saving account by the due date.

You can also pay cash in ABN AMRO branch but with the effect from July 18th, an amount of Rs 75.00 has been levied to the Credit Card account as fee for all cash deposits made in branches for Credit card payments .

We regret to inform that we are not providing cheque or cash collection facility with regard to the credit card payments.

You may also quote the reference number [protected], in case you need any further clarification on the above resolution.

Please feel free to write back to us for any further clarifications in this regard or call our 24-hour Bank by Phone service in your city and our executive will be glad to assist you.

Yours sincerely,

Hi,

This is a very poor response. When I deposited the cheque in your bank in time then why the late payment charges will be debited. Please investigate the matter in details and provide proper feedback.

Dear Mrs. Sarkar,

This is with reference to your email dated February 19, 2009.

We would like to inform you that the late fees are levied due to the non payment of atleast the minimum amount due within the due date.. The finance charges are levied due to non payment of total outstanding within payment due date.

We would also like to clarify that interest on any retail transaction is levied if the total outstanding is not paid within due date and this is calculated from the date of transaction until the total amount is fully repaid.

We regret we will not be able to reverse these charges.

In the future we request you to make the payment atleast four (4) days prior to the due date to avoid any accrual of charges and to allow sufficient amount of time for clearance of the instrument.

We will also like to recommend that if you have an ABN AMRO Bank account you can call up the Bank By Phone for a credit card payment over the phone or access net banking to make payments through the net by just logging on to https://cards.abnamro.co.in

You can have your card account enrolled for the Auto-Debit / ECS facility by which the minimum amount / total amount will automatically get debited from you saving account by the due date.

We are forwarding the auto debit request form for your reference. You may sign the same and have the scanned copy mailed to us for processing.

Please note, you may also make your credit card payments online through NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer). For making payments through NEFT, access NetBanking of the Bank from where you wish to transfer the money and add your ABN AMRO Credit Card number as a beneficiary to receive the funds. Enter the 16 digit ABN AMRO credit card number. Please do ensure that ABN AMRO Bank's IFSC code is ABNA0200001 and start making online payments towards ABN AMRO card.

We hope the above will make the payment making process simpler and hassle free for you.

You may also quote the reference number [protected], in case you need any further clarification on the above resolution.

Please feel free to write back to us for any further clarifications in this regard or call our 24-hour Bank by Phone service in your city and our executive will be glad to assist you.
