[Resolved] Apollo Hospital Noida — Overcharges not refunded | |||
Apollo hospital Noida owes me Rs. 14604 (Rs. 17214 forced to pay at 10:30pm, minus Rs. 6926 estimate given to me by Manish at 2:00pm, (Billing Supervisor of Apollo Hospital Noida), minus Rs. 4316 for non-surgical items, (which Apollo Hospital was deducting, but E-Meditek did not deduct). I went to admit my wife (Raj Rani Agrawal) in Apollo Hospital on 22 November 2009. Billing Supervisor (Manish) asked me, if we wanted Semi private or Ward room. I told him that we had MediClaim Insurance for Rs. 1.5 lac, which meant the room rate is covered at Rs. 1500 per day. He said it won't be a problem, and we will only have to pay the difference in room rate (Rs. 2300- Rs. 1500) only, and no other charges. We opted for the semi private room with this assurance. I even asked him that he will have to bill to our MediClaim Insurance company at Rs. 1500 per day only. He said not to worry. We had talked to our doctor, Dr. Amit Misra about it, and he talked with Dr. Sharma (COO of Apollo Hospital Noida), and he had given assurance that we will only pay the difference in room rate. On the day of discharge, 25 November 2009, I met Manish, Billing Supervisor and reminded him to send the bill to our MediClaim Insurance Company at the room rate of Rs. 1500. He gave me an estimate of Rs. 6926 for me to pay, and he wrote it on the copy of Fax sent by him to our MediClaim provider (E-Meditek). This estimate included the difference in room rate for 3 days (Rs. 2400), Lunch charges(Rs. 210), and other non-surgical items (Rs. 4316). At 10:30pm, when the approval of our hospital bill came from E-Meditek, Manish was already gone home. The Receptionist asked me to pay Rs. 17214. I phoned Manish and he asked me to pay it then, and he will fix the bill the next morning. I phoned Manish next morning 28 Nov 2010. He told me that he could do nothing about it. I sent an Email to Apollo Hospital on 9 Dec 2010 about this matter. I wrote a letter to Dr Sharma, COO Apollo Hospital Noida on 4 Jan 2010. No responses have been received by me from Apollo Hospital Noida, or Dr. Sharma COO Apollo Hospital Noida. Please provide me relief to get this matter resolved to my satisfaction. Thank you. I inspite of being a doctor myself faced a similar problem. the difference was tht the amount I paid was 80, 000 Rs.
Before admission they give false assurances (Dr Amit Mishra, Dr Sharma and Mr Manish) but as billing is done they all either run away or show helplessness.
They charge exorbiant sums even for things like gloves used by sweepers while cleaning the toilet and even for the toilet pan, which no insurance company would pay.
They charged 1300 Rs surgeon fees per day only for dressing in addition to 800 Rs visit charges while dressing was not even done on half of the days. I am too disappointed in Apollo and its staff.
