[Resolved]  CIBIL — CIBIL score reduction

Address:Thane, Maharashtra

Hi,

I just wanted to know reason behind why CIBIL reduces the score on the number of enquiries done to the individual CIBIL accounts. I have rights to check my CIBIL score as many time I want as I may keep on checking if CIBIL/Banks not doing any reporting in error.

This is totally unacceptable. Want detail explaination with valid reason and justification.

regards,
Nitin

Nitin - CIBIL does not reduce your score every time you request your report for checking your score but yes they will charge for the report. On the other hand if by checking you mean a hard enquiry through a bank/nbfc platform (this seems to be free from immediate monetary perspective) then in the CIBIL system it shows as a loan enquiry. Note that as a lender, if you come across as loan hungry, it automatically reduces your desirability as borrower (relative terms). So basically, you have right to check your score as many times but do it the right way (which will also cost you money) i.e. get your copy of the report from CIBIL. You may also visit www.creditcure.in for details and help on obtaining, understanding and improving your CIBIL credit score.

By the way, the score does not change daily and if you are repaying on time and there is no significant change in your borrowings and credit behaviour, you should be ok to check your scores once a year. Anything more is useless with no significant value add.
