Even i have faced similar problems with my compaq presario v3000; from the first week of purchase i have had battery related issues- of not picking charge, system not booting and so on.I have received poor sales services too. Whenver i have faced hardware related problems the service center (more than one) could not come up with long-rem resolution. I believe this is due to the inferior quality internal components which is in no way justified by the price i have paid which could be claimed to be an economical one. A company of Compaq-HP reputation should not do this to aspiring customers. I seriously regret the moment i decided to purchase a compaq laptop for all the time and effort spent on it.
I am facing similar problems with my compaq presario v3000, purchased it in august 2007 and now whenever I start the comp after a while the battery stops charging itself, im unable to figure out why would the battery show problems with in a span of 1yr, its unacceptable from my end.

My laptop is not starting now. No battery back up.
Compaq should take immediate action in favour of customer.
I will be going to Service centre at Ankleshwar in few days.
But why should the customer should bear this things.
There are 3 such laptop in my family all gone through similar problems.
My important datas might get lost...!!
And what about wastage of time and unavailability of service.
Do the needfull ; if possible mail me immediately for any solution.

i bought compaq pressario v 3000 in jan 2007, and my usage is very low, now the battery shows a back up of only 20 mins, which is not done.
it's a usual one. after frequent charging/ discharging, the battery capacity reduced. You must change your battery in this situation. i had comapq v3000 series v3604TU model. the possible reasons why your battery is gaming while not charging etc, my advice is always store your battery 40% battery backup not 100%. turn of[censored]nnessary background processes like windows defender, health check, update for office check etc.,

i was told that above model will give long baterry back up approx 3-4hrs. but i get only 1 hr of back up. kindly solve my problem as with this small batt back up i can't do my work.
