hey...its a great school...you know how much they care for students...ok i accept the fees is high but still they put efforts for it...I finished my schooling there and came out with flying colours...now I'm a student in MIT...really i salute all my teachers and the management for helping me to achieve my desire...
I am a parent of a 2nd Std boy of DAV Adambakkam. I feel that compared to PSBB and DAV velachery (horrible school), this school is far, far better in terms of fees and other facilities. I feel the fees they collect is worth the education and facilities given by the school. The only thing I don't like about this school is their indecisiveness about planning holidays during the academic year. When all other schools in the locality declare a holiday for a particular day, DAV school alone will work that day and vice versa. Other than this, education is fantastic and it all depends upon the teacher(s) you get for ur students. Touch wood, my son has been lucky so far to get good teachers all the while now.
I totally disagree with Mrs. Raji Sandeep or whoever it is... The responsiblity of safety of children starts for the school management only after the children enter the school campus not on the roads. It's the parents' responsiblity to drop their children safely to the school. Also, I don't think DAV is totally academic oriented. They do teach skills. Most of the children who have commented here have come out in flying colors and are in big places, so without acquiring knowledge, they would not been in such big places.

Kidergarden Teachers are loved by the kids (my daughter loved her Pkg teacher and now loves her lkg teacher. she says "MY MISS VATHSALA", this shows the love and care the teacher gives to kid)

FINE FOR LATE TC: You should understand that you have voided the opportunity of dozens and dozens of students who are waiting / longing to get a seat in this school. As someone already posted, this kind of fine is implemented in almost all the popular schools. If you want to fake on TC then what is that you are teaching your kids.
Yes there had been some CAMPUS surrounding issues in the past due to water logging BUT now they have worked on the drainage canals around the school and also the LKG rooms of my daughter is so secure.
In previous post a year back in some other blog - I said that there is no extra curricular activities in this school but I REVERT my comment AS my son is now having continous KARATE sessions and he loves it. They have Yoga/Music/Volleyball etc as options.
Personal experience:
(1) My daughter is studying in LKG and being a working mother I hardly spend time with her. Just before the exam I ask her what was thought by her dear teacher. She would very happily narrate all that she learnt in the class. SO THIS SPEAKS OF THE WONDERFUL TEACHING BY THE TEACHER's of DAV Adambakkam.
(2) Teachers are TOUGH, yes, sometime only tough instructions gets into parents + students heads. During last academics, every parents meeting I used to get bash along with my son for his bad handwriting but I realized this and put him in a handwriting class during summer vacation. NOW this academic year, he gets a good/neat in almost all subjects . SO as a teacher they conveyed and as a parent we have to support. It becomes our duty. Finally the growth of our kid is important no matter who becomes the steps of the growth ladder. If one step is teacher, the next could be parent .

THE GRAMMAR IN THE CURRICULUM IS TOO GOOD.

yes really its a worst school(SDAV).. the basic respect for parent are missing..

you are talking about a grown DAV school who snacthes money from you... leave it aside iam a old student of this school in late 1990's and when it was started they had collected rs 500 as deposit money with the committment as refundable and when we left the school after 12th completion this school denied us giveing back the money after asking us come for 20 times atleast for getting refund ... they have started minting money 20 years back and also they cheated the nadheeswarar temple and got the place from them thru court of law ( the judge was varadharajan 's relative)...some one told about toilets sinking once upon a time the entire school will be sinking even for a small rain and every student has to swim and reach the class..The vardarajan is ex employee of ashok leyland and cheated them and got more vehicles from them
some one told you about coaching---- pathetic they produce 100 % every year .. because they dont allow weaker childrens to write exams and they will retain them in same class ...bull management by varadharajan & Co ... one son is a prinicipal and the other son is the van driver in those days..( dont know the current situation)
They are politically clouted and started acting like mofiya in 90's itself...

I am student of this school from the first year of inception (hey i got my Rs.500 back in a weeks time from leaving) and now both my kids study here...Yes, one family controls..but they have put their whole family at stake for this have resigned / given up other career choices for this..let them earn reasonably from this even if you call it business, whats wrong..I am sure they dont have in swiss banks..dont worry, unfortunately they are Hindus who firmly believe this is their land..and please also analyze the costs of running these with reasonable salaries to be paid to qualified, post grad teachers and other costs...
They only believe in hard methods yes..more like the gurukula yes..students may even do things like arranging bunches for independence day etc..but is there any other way to inculcate discipline today in kids and ensure they dont freak out?? i[censored] do want ur kids to go to pub starting from age 10/12, and give them absolute freaky western culture, this is not the place, also students who receive it actually are also able to appreciate the real love behind these..the mgmt do not have the western sophistication and branding to hide behind like giving laptops or A/C classrooms or cheating in other means..but hey there is no free lunch any where else too.
i received absolutely the best and also want my kids to get the firm footing in life..and so I am convinced they should be here.What I have seen above is this..people who thrashed dont have guts to objectively evaluate and dont have even proper names and details..rather anonymous..and those with positive are all ex-students or parents like me. so please conclude accordingly

there is nothing wrong about this school.Though they collect huge sums, their teaching is good.not too horrible to complaint like this...

This is not a school but something run by a bunch of people who do not know what teaching is!
Leave alone the fees. Do the teachers working there what teaching means? Do they teach manners to their students? How can they when they don't practice it?
Do any of the staff working there talk properly to any parent, leave alone talking politely?
Do the students enjoy studying other than somehow mug up for the sake of marks?
I am a very practical person and usually do not complain for trivial issues. But, I would like to say that this school is a total chaos. A school that has so much resources is highly mismanaged. All it needs is a little bit of common sense and a little respect for the parents feelings. But it is the opposite in this school. I wonder how come the school authorities do not realise that this school is not there without parents! Only because the parents enroll their children, the school has grown so big, isn't it?

Lastly, I have had very bad experiences with the school and have addressed this with them many a times but all in vain. Did any parent talk to the school authorities why they charged a sum of Rs.5000 for a second standard class books? All it costs is about Rs.1500 totally! I have only said the school is like because even parents have given room for such a thing to happen. I alone cannot voice the problems and I see no parent is doing this either. It might be common now a days in many school. Most of them are money oriented. But they should have some kind of social responsibility and return back to society. Management became worst in rescent years. I witnessed stamped in school every day evening when we go to pick up and drop my kid. Management used to complaint poor parents. they have only two working gates for the strength of 7000 students.
I am least bothered about toilet and other facility. But Safety of our wards are most important. How these kind of schools are different from one we saw in kumbakonam history. To address this problem there should be a parents assosiation setup and who would represent the issues and concerns to the management. It could be formalised and take up to media if not addressed by Management,

This is the first time I have come to this website inorder to know more about the school. I see there are both good and bad comments.
I am quite surprised by the fact that the good comments are spoken only by the ex-students of the school. But, my dear kids, do you know that these good marks that you have scored is not going to help you in life? Try to depend on your strengths as a person rather than the school or the marks. Try to analyse what you have acquired in terms of knowledge..what do you think, people who have scored good marks are genius and students who have scored low marks are fools? You are a real fool if you think that way. Do not support something without fully knowing the truth.
The fees in this school is toooo high. They are unprofessional. I have heard the school teachers themselves complaining about the management to the parents. I am a parent too, both my daughters are studying that school. I see that they are not upto the mark. Unfortunately, I have to bear with the school for one more year.
You must try going through the roads between 8:00 -8:30 in the morning! What a chaos! What is the management doing? Have they taken care of the safety of the children? Not at all! They dont even see what is happening cos they happily come to work only at 11AM.
As one of the members complained the toilets stink, the classrooms are not upto the mark, there are no proper fans for the kids...but the fees is exhorbitant! They keep asking, asking and asking only. I look at it as sophisticated begging!
Only one thing surprises me, inspite of so many problems why are the parents not ready to talk to the management as a group? I am ready to join hands.
