laptop on but no display, and over heat

Hi,

Even I am a vitim of the same issue, but luckily my laptop was still within the warranty period. I had to get the motherboard replaced to fix this issue. I did an extensive search among my friends who have picked up this model and was alarmed to know that every single person have faced this issue multiple times. This is a shame for Compaq and I am seriously trying to know if they are still selling these faulty models to Indian market. This is against every ethics and this needs to be fixed.

I too facing the problem of dispaly getting into white colour and no response...i have to press the power button inorder to restart the laptop...the purpose of the power button is used for restart purpose(this is how it works now for me) !!! ...and from past 2 days the pc boots up but nothing on the screen not even the white colour...so the display is dead...and after some time if i am lucky then if i start the laptop power again then laptop works like a ideal condition...now dont know what to do...my warrenty period is over...i took 1.5 yrs before and the warrenty period was only for 1 yr...and i purchased in india and right now i am in germany..so if i take it to repair centre i dont how much he will charge and also what about guarrenty...

I too have the same problem - No display. I had also purchased the Laptop in August 2007. I think HP has dumped some failed products in India without any quality control. Hope they wake up & respond. The response of HP has been pathetic to say. One of my keys had broken within 15 days of purchase & when I went to the service centre in Delhi, he closed the issue as "Not a Manufacturing Defect". I had even registered a complaint about this on HP site twice but no one responded even once.

It has been a painful experience with HP! As a result, I have never recommended HP products to anyone, nor will I ever recommend the same in future.

I have a v3000. Iit is out of oredr witihn 1 years. no BOOTING NO DUSPLAY.
Delear accepetd that this model of laptop is defective. And delear is receivign hindreds of complaints. He also told that company has admitted the defect but has no any plan to withdraw the model from markets.
Altimate suffering goes to consumers.
Wrost experience of such kind in life that too from company like HP.
I will never see hp IN LIFE.

Can anybody suggest how shall we proceed legally against such pratices? I have done enough research and as per the information I received, Compaq is aware of this issue but still continues to market this product. This is not acceptable.

It happens that Compaq Presario v3000 series of laptops have motherboard related problems right from the begining (that's why they extended one year warranty only on motherboards and not on displays or other parts). I'm regretting for the purchase. I would never ever buy any HP/Compaq product again. It's all crap.

Even i am facing the same problem- when i switch on the power- no display, nothing!!! This is the second time this has happened. Luckily first time it was under warrantl but now its not. I took it to a service centre and they said the cost of repair is 10000 rs. So its just lying down with me. Anyone please suggest what can i do.

i am also the victim of this bad troublesome piece that was been sold to me in hp shop convincing me that this is the best and worth the money where as i went to buy an hp instead i was handed with this jerk thing i will strongly recomend guys not to buy compaq models even our indian role model sharuk khan has turned us down .i got this repaired 7times but stil facing the prob that the display goes of in middle of my work and it comes back sometimes make me restart . the company should make an exchange offer for this model and proving us with a good one if the company have ethics.

compaq v3000 — Screen display problem

I am using laptop Compaq V 3000 since 28 months. recently I have problem.i.e. whwn i start the laptop white screen is display comes.

Yes, I too had the same complaint, I had no other option but to get it fixed for Rs 5000. but now i am totally against all the Hp products. This is totally unfair on part of Hp to deceive people openly without calling back faulty laptops to the market. I have come across the same situation before for Bajaj Spirit, Insala mixer grinder and now with the Laptop. This makes clear that the authorities that are concerned are not effective enough to take action against these companies.

DA, even i am facing the same problem. whenever i turn it on i have to keep on pressing F2 button for the display to get on. nowadays even this method too is not working. when i visited the dealer he says this is the common problem with this model. even if i repair it after 6 months same problem will come up he says. i hate this HP and strongly recommend not to go for their products. despite knowing this products inferiority still they are selling it.

Well well, HP/Compaq is junk. Please do not buy ant products from hp/compaq the problem still there, they have got good exteriors but all crap.

I too have the same problem where there is simply no display on switching on the laptop. Dealer says there is some problem with the mother board which costs aroung 11000 bucks...i feel its better to buy another one rather than getting a replacement of the MB
