[Resolved]  Evok — Bad Service, wrong commitments

We ordered on EVOK store Faridabad on 17th Feb 2013, after their Designer and Sales person explained the proposed kitchen and agreed to get a new one in place of our existing one they asked for 50% advance against total of 1,40,000.00 against verbal discussion only. We were not given any terms and condition paper at that point of time and were promised to send the official contract form within 3 days. Both the person was very “sweet talkers” and we unfortunately trusted their assurances oh highly professional service. The contract form were only sent after 15 days after I went out on official tour and got it signed by my wife (It was not possible for any layman to understand what they had written in the contract, since they had list of items depicted as per their terminology and fixture numbers that only they can understand. especially when most of the important terms were written in miniscule fonts) who could check only the total amount to be paid.
Materials were supposed to be delivered by 4 weeks (verbal assurance again).Later nearly after 6 weeks they called us to inform to pay the balance 50% even when the material was not even ready. I got surprised and shocked, that how can any agency ask for 100% payment without doing anything. Then I was told that it is as per the “terms of contract” and pointed to the line that one can only read with a magnifying glass. Even after paying the balance 50% on 30th March the materials were not delivered for next 1 week that’s too incomplete supply.
EVOK kept the civil work intentionally out of their scope and assured us to provide all helps including ALL ARRANGEMENT, COORDINATION & SUPERVISION work with other agencies .Then came their next game, as they arranged the civil agency at the last moment in spite of our repeated reminders to call the contractor for discussion and rate fixing and literally forced us to place order on their agency and cough up exorbitantly high price for small job at the gunpoint or else they will not to coordinate/supervise the civil work.
Finally the kitchen fixing work started on 8th and midway we came to know that they are not supplying the corner rotating racks as promised (which they only insisted to install their own item discarding our old ones which were working perfectly well), when contacted they denied everything and denied to supply the same since this is not in the “Order”. We felt totally cheated.
The work was delayed like anything and due to extreme poor coordination, days were lost and EVOK didn’t bother to care for the extreme inconvenience caused . Their representatives do not bother to pick up the calls even when we call back to them for delay in work. Our kitchen was out of service for 16 days though they committed to finish the work by 5 days .
At every stage EVOK gave us false assurances and wrong commitments. We had harrowing and frustrating experience with EVOK They are totally unprofessional and untrustworthy agency. We are placing this as a WARNING to all potential customers of Evok, so that no one gets cheated by them, like the way we had been. Do not agree to get anything ( like civil work, gas piping etc.) under your scope. Even if you place the order do not pay any advance till the time you get in writing what you are getting in a way that you understand clearly vis a vis what they are promising verbally and make sure that you don’t agree to 100% advance payment before the work is actually completed, otherwise you are totally at their mercy and they will surely take you for a ride.
It took EVOK two months to complete the job after placement of order.
