[Resolved]  Evok — Horrible Service from EVOK, Hyderabad

We had ordered a modular kitchen for our apartment on October 9th, 2011 and at that time, 50% of the payment was taken which was around 1 lakh and we were told that we have to make the remaining payment before the material was delivered. We wanted to make some part of the payment only after the installation of the kitchen, since we expected that EVOK would take forever to install the kitchen after getting 100% of the payment, which is what is happening. Five months down the line as of March 20th 2012, our kitchen is still not complete and we are waiting for material to be delivered from Gurgaon, with no updates from the store. We cannot occupy the house without a functional kitchen.
On November 29th, 2011, someone from the store called and said that we need to make the balance 50% payment since the material had arrived. On november 30th, 2011, the remaining payment was made as promised by us and since then, the work has been getting delayed for one reason or the other. We were promised that the kitchen would be installed in 7 days and now it's been 3 weeks and even the base cabinets are not yet done. After the material was delivered to the apartment, Mr Chiranjeevi took 3 days to come inspect the material and he did not have the latest list of what we had ordered. After that, they mentioned that the existing granite counter had to be removed before they could start the work. This could have been done beforehand, since they had gone and inspected the site and were aware that we had the granite counter. Anyway, we got the counter removed and then, for another two days, no one came to start work. Then, they started work and two days into the work, they realised some of the hinges are missing. And now, we are waiting for material to be delivered to resume work. I don't understand why these things were not checked when they did the inspection. And at the same time, they say they will call us or send us a message on 17th December 2011 about when the remaining parts will come but we did not hear from them, so we started contacting their customer care center and got in touch with Ms Pratima who is Mgr Customer Relations. Ms Pratima assured us that on or before 30th December, 2011 they will get the balance articles of your kitchen delivered and installed and she assured us of constant support from Evokcare team till they complete the kitchen.
Today, is March 19th 2012 and OUR KITCHEN IS STILL NOT COMPLETE AND WE ARE WAITING FOR SOME MORE MATERIAL TO BE DELIVERED and this time, again we were promised by Pratima that our kitchen would be complete and functional latest by Saturday, March 17th 2012 and when we tried contacting her today, she did not respond to our call. We sent them a mail telling them we would be approaching the consumer court on March 13th 2012 and we did not get a response to that mail as well. We needed to occupy our house since January mid 2012 and we still are not able to occupy it and we have no deadlines from EVOK about when they will finish their work.
Their sales order says that assembly and fixing of kitchen will be done in 8 working days after delivery of material which was around December 2011 first week. It also says any damage, shortage or wrong material delivered at site will be replaced within 3 weeks. Our order was placed on October 9th 2011 with 50% payment made then and we paid the remaining 50% on November 29th, 2011 and today 4 months later, we still are waiting for parts to be delivered and installed with no end in sight. Also, we are not delivered what we are promised, even in terms of communicating with us about what is happening.
We regret spending 2 lakhs on an EVOK kitchen and getting this kind of service. We could have instead gone with a local carpenter and both the customer service and quality would have been better and it would have been much cheaper. We strongly recommend against buying anything from EVOK because this is how the store is dealing with customers. They are taking the consumer for granted and cheating customers with false promises. The store manager at EVOK Hyderabad very gladly mentioned to us that since theirs is a new store in hyderabad, they would ensure very fast and reliable service to the customer so that they can establish a good name for the brand in the city and we need not worry about the complete payment being done before the installation of the kitchen.
We are considering going to consumer court regarding the pathetic consumer service that we have received from EVOK and ending up with a non functional kitchen inspite of the commitments made to us in the sales order. The sales order says the kitchen will be installed in 8-10 working days after.the parts are delivered and if there are any missing parts, they will be replaced within 3 weeks. Calculating all of it, the kitchen should have been ready by December 2011 end. We are looking for compensation for the inconvenience caused by EVOK and a functional kitchen ASAP.
