Johnson & wales University, Uk — I got a offer letter from Johnson & wales University, Uk

Hi Got a offer and the offer is as below.
Wanted to check the authenticity of it.

Yogesh Bajpai
Lecturer, Eritrea Inst. of Technology
Asmara, Eritrea

Hi There,
This is fake offer as you can perform basic checks and you will identify the authenticity yourself. So, don't pay any money if you are asked.

The email address and phone numbers given are not matching with phone numbers given on the JWU.edu website. Also, if there is any email sent by any authorised staff his domain/server name will be @jwu.edu but here you can see the server name is @live.co.uk which is not correct.

Also, if you try to find the Prof. Aberthol Owen in the faculty staff you don't find his name and the phone numbers and location doens't match.

So, please use your brain and you can get answer.

cheers
Please use your brain.what Jay said is correct.
we got the same type of email from the Prof. Aberthol Owen. I farwarded that email to naukri.com. I got the answer from Naukri.com. Here is the farwarded message of naukri.com.
PLEASE BE AWARE and OTHERS TO AWARE

Here is the Noukri.com's clarifications over this type of emails.

We, at Naukri.com, are committed to your safe and secure job search, and have undertaken strong measures to discourage emails with fraud job offers from reaching your inbox. We would further like to make you aware of how to detect such fraud/scam mails, so you can make your job search safer.

Naukri.com is a platform that brings together Jobseekers and Employers. It is neither a recruitment firm nor does it act as a labor consultant or employment partner of any employer. The portal is used by numerous corporate, placement companies, and recruitment firms. Regrettably, sometimes, false job postings are listed online, and non-existing job offers are sent via email to illegally collect personal information and/or money from unsuspecting job seekers.

Indicators to check if an email from an employer/recruiter is a fraud/scam mail:
If you have not heard the name of the company before, search on Yahoo, Google or MSN to see if the company has a genuine website. Also check if other people have reported that the employer has been involved in job scams previously.
If the mail asks for your personal, non-work related information such as Credit Card numbers or Bank information over phone or email
If the mailer has used free email IDs to contact you or as 'reply to' email IDs. For example, if you get a job offer from XYZ Petroleum Company, and their email ID is
[protected]@gmail.com or [protected]@yahoo.com then it is most probably a fake company. Real companies use their own domain name on their email, and do not use free email providers.
If the 'reply to' email ID is different from the 'from' email ID
If the contact telephone numbers are mobile phone numbers
If the mailer asks for money-transfers, or payment for any employment/recruitment related purpose, such as immigration and visa processing, travel etc
If it offers jobs without a face to face interview
If the mail offers jobs you have not applied for
If it offers unrealistic amounts of remunerations/benefits
Before you respond to such emails, we strongly recommend you do a discreet enquiry and verify the legitimacy of the employer. Please note that Naukri.com does not approve of, or represent any employer or recruiter in sending such fraudulent communication, which, in fact, is a violation of the Terms and Conditions. Remember, if you receive any suspicious email communication from a possible Naukri client, immediately report it to us at [protected]@naukri.com. We value the trust you place in Naukri.com and are committed to making your job search on our site a safe and fraud-free experience.

We wish you good luck in your job search,

Thanks Lakshmi,

Thank you very much as your reply has cleared all my confusion.
I too have received such mail and was very happy, But after my dad insisted on checking the authenticity of the offer, i started searching in google for JWU and found this site.

Friends beware of such fraud and fake offer letters.
I GOT THE SAME OFFER LETTER, BUT NOW I KNOW IT WAS FAKE.ACTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST SUCH PEOPLE.
i got this same letter today and found its fake becasue the univ is in usa but these guys say uk and wales
thank god for the internet
I would like to appeal to the public, please beware of this man named Prof. Owen. He has been sending this fraud job offer to most of my friends here in the Philippines ( and I am one of them, too). It is so sad since we had already sent our resume and some personal details. Personally I am so tensed now if he might use some of our personal data to illegal things. Please help us all...THANK YOU. keep helping people.
hi,
i also got many offer letters from many fake web sites,
i have two questions?
1. how to find this people for punish them?
2.Is there any problems will come with personal data?
I got the same offer too!!!
This scam should be stop at once. So that other job seekers like me will not be scammed by them.
It is good that we are wise enough to check it first before making any payment or commitment.
But what happen to those naive job seekers that are really desperate and don't check before they commit to the offer ?
I am really sick with this kind of people, taking advantage of other people.
Hi,

I too got the same offer letter. when I saw the benefits offered by them, my heart said, dear Anita, something is fishy, so I checked with my friends and the website, which proved that the name and the numbers were not existing. So I searched google to get more information, then I saw our Indian consumer complaint forum and came to know that not only me many had been the victim for the same. Its really bad to cheat people. If someone gets carried away with the benefits and pay, can't imagine??? Ho! God... How can people cheat like this.
