Sir, We, the people of Aranmula is conducting a strike against proposed Airport at Aranmula promoted by KGS Group, Head Office at Chennai. the agitation started against them on 9/12/2011 by conducting a dharna at their Ofiice by more than 300 people affected. The strike has conducted raising following points: 1. Stop their proceedings to acquire 150 acres of land in Notified Industrial Area. In this area, more than 5000 people are residing in their houses. This includes local business centres in different town in Aranmula, Mallapuzhassery, Kidanganoor Villages. 2. The proposed Airport is constructing after filling 450 acres of paddy field. This will lead serious Environmental Hazards. 3. Eventhough in the gazette notification says that the Industrial Notified Area is only about 500 acres. But Survey No. reveals that it is more than 1000 acres. It includes cultivating Paddy Fields and other Agricultural Land, Residential Areas, Worship Places, Bread Winning Local Business Places. The agitation of "Janakiya Samara Samithi' is taken over by different Political, Religious Groups. Due to this the office of KGS Group at Aranmula was closedown and the Illegal Construction of KGS Group was stopped by the Police & Local Bodies. More than 60 % of the people are reading and subscribing your daily. It is really unfortunate that you are not even caring to visit or report this matter in your Daily. This News was well covered by All other medias including Hindu, Indian Express, and other dailies with due importance. So, we request your early attention in this matter. Thanking you. The otherday the CEO of KGS group in his statement reported by Surya TV stated that direct employment opportunity is for 1500 people. It is surprising to note that for proposed employment opportunities for 1500 they are taking over houses of more than 3000 ! Even a 10 acres of land can host industries for employing that much people, depending on the industry type. The result of industrialisation in an environment sensitive area like Aranmula is that Pampa river will become another Yamuna. People of Alleppey and Kuttanadu depends on Pampa for drinking water. This is not just a cause of 3000 people. It has vast implications. Total environment pollution will affect the left over population as the area consists of vetland type soil. Even the presence of a service station had its implications and paddy fields of Aranmula is a natural way out to ease the water pressure of Pama during floods. What will happen in case of a flood in Pampa after filling all the open areas? We are victims of environmental pollution. All the people of Aranmula should unite and fight to protect their right to live.
Request the hon'ble press to take note of such activities and bring forth all the truth behind such shadow industrialisation activities which shall benefit certain people with billions and billions of bucks.
