I have been a mumbai gold taxi member for the last 6 months. I'm facing the same problem this month, the call center seems totally disfunctional. It's either busy, or the call gets cut. The service has been very erratic. However, I got a call today and have been informed that things will be getting back to normal in the next couple of days. Let's see how this goes...

I had given my mother's permit to Gold Cab Pvt Ltd. for earning Rs 2500/- monthly. It is almost 1 year now (6 June 08) nothing has happened. Initially I use to deal with mr. Rawat, right from processing in RTO and other work. After sometime whenever we use to call him to know the status, he use to say it will take time and it is in process. Half of the month was taken by RTO to make permit alive (since it was dead permit). Mr rawat said their office is trying to pay minimum fine to RTO. Suddenly one day Mr rawat stopped coming on telephone. But one day he gave Mr. Sabnis contact number and said henceforth you contact him for starting the permit. He also said the same thing, its in process and once it is complete we will call you or we will send you letter for final completion of procedure. Then after your income will start. But unfortuanely, till date Mr sabnis is also acting strangely on one occasion he did not attend our phone call.
I will not recommend any one Gold Cabs to give their permit or associate with them, as they seem fishy.

Taxi Service Mumbai Gold — Reiumbersment not received
I booked a taxi through[protected]/32449999 on 28th april 2008, got a confirmation that the taxi will reach on 28th 7:30am at my residence, on one called me from call centre that the taxi wont come, my family member missed the flight costing arround Rs.4000/- due to delay, purchased another flight licket at airport costing arround Rs.7500/-, called them & mailed them several times for the compensation, unfortunately got nothing till date...Please do the justice...Mera Bharat Mahaan Taxi drivers in mumbai don't seem to understand what their job as taxi drivers is let it be the middle of the afternoon or the late evening, it is still difficult to find taxis in mumbai for short distances as taxi drivers refuse to take the fare at all costs. Even if its raining heavily they will not relent. No doubt some exceptions do exist but the majority of the lot still are the same as they were before. They keep going on strikes to increase the fare but what are they doing to make the life of commuting in mumbai easy. Today early in the morning i had to go from Mumbai Central to Charni Road as i was running late for my classes but it took me 30 mins and at least 10 cabs to find one cabbie who too reluctantly after a lot of 'saying please' agreed. What do they now expect the short distance commuters to do fall at their feet.
Earlier about a week ago i had to go from Inox cinema to Vt Station at 10 in the night. Not a single cabbie along the way agreed to fare i must have encountered about 12 cabs on the way and finally me and my group of friends ha to walk down the stretch which on an average costs a good Rs17 cab ride.
This is highly ridiculous as cab drivers still refuse to relent. Alright understandable if they refuse a fare in late evening when the office goers head home as even they would want to head home and look for fares of their area ok. But what about midday and early morning i dont think these are times anybody is heading home. So what reason do they have to refuse fares and leave commuters stranded in this fashion. Will they ever learn to do their job.

Anyone who has taken a Cab from Mumbai Airport knows how u can be conned/forced/abused to pay more than the Meter i[censored] take a Traditional Black-Yellow or Blue-Grey Taxi. Then came New Era of Private Operators, Meru, MegaCab, Gold Cab n Yes life became easy for Compulsive Travellers like me-Pay as u Use, Nothing more Nothing Less
So called Mumbai Gold Cab you can take from same pick up point as other Private Cabs but that is where the similarity ends.
In past also I had incidents whenever I took Gold Cab, Cabs r in real Bad State, Stinky & Drivers extremely Rude & at the End Point they will always demand typically "De Do Jo aapki Marji..."& u know what they r expecting but nothing to beat my Yesterday's experience.
Cab taken from: Mumbai Airport, GOLD CAB @16:00hrs approx (non-peak hours as we all know)
(The signature Stink & Cab Driver's Gutka-Body smell together was enough to make a Dead Man alive)

Headed to Powai (my abode)
Easy flowing Traffic, Short Signals but Driver will Stop & restart his Vehicle Many Times (probabily there has some connection to what I am saying ahead)
We reach destination & the Driver declares INR 250 please
Now I am a routine Hirer of Private AC Cabs n in worst of Traffic, Meter has never gove ahead of INR 160-165
When I tell the driver I will pay as per Meter (which he has hid with some cloth) the Driver gets WILD
With the Door Open to alight he in a wave of Anger immediately Starts the Car, Raises it & wants to Rush out with me IN the Car (very close to Kidnapping me). When I threaten him with Police he not caring though stops n starts Screaming the usual (aap ameer log..., Airplane me beithte ho par AC Carwale ko paise nahin dena hai...)
Finally when I say I will pay by meter the Great Meter Shows INR 216.25
Which after a Long Travel not to extend this any further I pay 220 n leave the cab noting the Car No to complaint to there Call Centre (when I had threatened him with this he actually cared a heck...)
Finally post I called Call Centre somebody politely took the complain n said 10mins we will call u back, I am still waiting post 24hrs no one has called yet!!!
Fellow Cab Hirers i[censored] care for yourself & your legitimate hard earned money then travel by Auto from Airport if no Pct AC Cab available but do not hire MUMBAI GOLD CAB!!!

Yes friends, these GOLD cabs are bloody cheaters. This incident has happened twice with me. Normally from Airport to Thane, the amount comes above Rs.500 during late nights. Suppose the bill comes Rs. 700 and I give one Rs.500 and 2 hundred rupees note, I don't know what mischief they do, they reply that you have given only 300 rupees. Somehow they change the Rs.500 note with Rs.100 note. PLEASE BEWARE of travelling by Mumbai Gold Cabs. These are all cheaters and coincidently the drives happen to be from UP and muslims (Javed, Irfan). When I called up the call centre no. they just register the call and nothing happens.
My Dear friend, say whatever you want about Bombay taxi or rickshaw drivers, they are still the best and cheapest in all of India. So please take your harsh comments back and respect the city's ammenities
