I have India today membership with membership number ITBC07316315, and I receive call from a executive for bunch offer that is 16 cds with holiday and jewelery gift voucher with 3-months EMI payment, but ITBC taken full payment instead of EMI. That’s why I have cancelled the order and ask for refund. ITBC has given me reference number RE08000485 on 6th October, 2008. Still I am waiting and waiting and talked 6-7 times to ITBC office, but till today’s date I did not get refund as committed me 45-60 days. I just think that ITBC make fraud with me. But I have all recorded conversions that I have made with ITBC customer care. You can also check my earlier mails sent to customer care. I got repeated answers every times. I am waiting for your favorable answer for a week. Then after I must have to take any legal action. Hope that you will help me to come out from this fraud.

Also payment deduct from credit card after receiving the parcel as I talked. But when I checked my credit card statement, full payment is deducted without getting parcel instead of 3 months EMI. Also your representative told that when parcel come, I checked first it, and then give payment by credit card. But you have deducted the full amount first. I think you have cheat me. Your representative had taken my card number for the reference of zerox copy of my credit which I will give at the time of parcel collection. I want to cancel this order and refund my amount.

Why was I not informed about these "hidden" charges at the time of giving me the offer, or at the time when I made the payment for the 12 books????!!

I have never received any such clarification / offer in writing from your end, neither the INDIA TODAY executive clarified this over phone.

Even the vouchers that I have received have expired even before I received them!!!

It is very obvious that I have been cheated of my hard earned money. As of now, I am no longer interested in continuing with this offer and I am requesting INDIA TODAY to refund my full amount of Rs. 2, 598/- OR else I have already initiated legal proceedings.

Yes I have finally received the two vouchers (holiday and return air fare) after over a month (despite claims of sending the same within 10 days) and that after multiple phone calls from my side to big city!!!

However, I am not going to utilise the same as I have decided to take legal action against INDIA TODAY for cheating and harassing me.

For your info, the vouchers sent by big city have long expired even before I received them. Secondly, big city is asking me to send DD of Rs.7, 000/- with the flight voucher and also a DD of Rs.899/- with the holiday voucher !!! How then is this scheme FREE???

It is thus that I have decided to go to court with me case. As it is, you peope do not seem to understand my complaint, neither is there any sincere effort to resolve my problem as is evident from the silly responses you are giving below in response to my complaint.

Trust you to be in the best of health. I have been an avid reader of your INDIA TODAY and MEN's HEALTH magazines for the past so many years and I have a regular subscription to both these magazines. I would like to bring to your notice how I am feeling cheated by INDIA TODAY book club offer.


I was sent an offer on 22nd July (mail is attached below along with the offer as attachment). As per the offer, I was promised a free 2 nights / 3 days holiday along with free return air ticket at select destinations in exchange for my procuring a set of 12 books from India Today Book Club.
I immediately availed of this offer after going thu all terms and conditions and made payment of Rs. 2, 598/- for the books imemdiately thru my CC over phone thru your executive.
I was informed that I shall be receiving further instructions after receiving the books.
Upon receipt of books, I followed the procedure as specified in your website to avail my holiday voucher and flight voucher.
As per procedure, I sent the filled up forms to Bangalore on 28th August for both holiday and flight voucher.
I was to receive the vouchers within 10 working days, however nothing came for the next one month. Upon repeated calling to Bangalore, I finally got my flight voucher.
To my utter shock and surprise, I am informed that I have to now send a DD of Rs. 7000/- towards airprort taxes, etc. along with the select destinations !!!
Please note that this was never communicated to me during any of my converstaions / correspondence with your executives whilst going thru the offer.
I thus feel that someone has cheated me of my money and time and I thus seek your help.
I must also point out here that I have not yet received the holiday voucher !!!
I am enclosing the procedure as well for your reference.
Please also note that thru my reference, 20 of my friends / relatives too had availed of this offer and now all o[censored]s are feeling cheated as no one had informed us either in writing or verbally about the Rs.7000/- extra payment.

I am writing to you as all my efforts at reaching customer care have gone in vain. Even the person who provided the original offer is not answering our calls.

Pls help.
