[Resolved]  Reliance Infrastructure Limited — Refusal by Club Mahindra to discontinue the membership

I had availed of a special scheme offered by Club Mahindra to selected individuals. The special scheme was offered by making telephonic calls to the people and held at City Centre, Salt lake, Kolkata. The scheme entailed payment of about 36,000/- upfront to avail of the following:

1. 26" Colour LCD Sony TV
2. Rs. 5,000/- worth of Food Vouchers to be used only at Club Mahindra Resorts during the stay.
3. 3 Nights 4 Day Stay at any of Club Mahindra Resorts across the country.

The Sales Representative Manashi and the Branch In-Charge, Shri Rohit Kumar Sing assured us that once you avail the above facilities and in case you are not satisfied you can discontinue the membership any time by just sending an e-mail.

Accordingly I had availed of the facilities as listed above and had availed of a holiday at Mashobra Resort during 19th-22nd December 2009.

I was not at all satisfied with the services and facilities offered at the resort and had made a written complaint at the Resort counter itself.

Subsequently I requested Club Mahindra to discontinue the membership after payment of EMIs for 3 months (Oct-Dec 2009) as already conveyed to me by the sales officials.

Now, Charmaine Dhawan, Member Relation calls me up and wants to meet me for knowing the difficulties. Once I confirm the meeting she insists that the meeting has to be definitely at her office and not anywhere else where the sales representatives should also be present. Subsequently the sales representative Manashi calls me up and asks that she does not know anything and cannot attend the meeting.

Charmaine Dhawan also confirms that till the meeting is held the EMI deduction shall be put on hold. But discontinuation of the membership will cost 60% of the Membership fees which works out to Rs.2,19,000/-.

This essentially implies that you are not in a position to discontinue the membership ever, which is in total contradiction to what the sales representatives have committed.

Also the way the team has been behaving is surprising coming from a leading Brand like Mahindras.

I really need to discontinue the membership but do not know where to approach.

Thought that this might be the right forum for expressing the facts also making others aware of what goes on behind the scene.
