Rpo Bangalore — delay in issue of passport

hi,

I would like to complain about the apathy of the officials working at the RPO Bangalore towards applicant's needs. I applied for my wife's passport through the bangalore one center on June 7th, 2010 for regular processing. Due to an urgent need that came up later, i decided to convert it to TATKAAL and for this i had to meet the passport officer.

now here's the retarded way in which the passport office works:

1. stand in a queue to get a token for anything and everything.
2. go to the enquiry (manned by just 1 person) when your token number is called.
3. fat lady at the token counter then sends you to another officer at the 1st floor.
4. fat lady at the first floor then asks to meet passport officer.
5. its already 5 hrs of waiting by this time.
6. passport officer finally takes a look and parrots the same thing " your passport will arrive in 2 days".


After standing in the enquiry queue for 5 hrs on a weekday (27th June), i was finally able to meet the passport officer R Ravindra who converted the application to tatkaal after accepting 1500Rs additionally and promised that the passport would be sent to the house address by 6th july. However, the passport didnt arrive until 8th, and then i was back the passport office going through the same process i mentioned before. This time Ravindra is on his phone begging some minister on the phone asking him to transfer him to the New York consulate, and that he has gotten his son out of school because this opportunity came up. Such are people in the passport office who work for their own benefit than for the people for which they are paid.

After what seemed like 15 min, he finally called the person in front of me. Now most people who come to the passport office are a frustrated with the sheer apathy and un-proffessional behavior of the passport officials here. The guy in front of me couldnt take it anymore when ravindra said that his passport will taken another 2 days, this poor guy lost his patience and raised his voice at the officer asking him for an explanation (the guy's been running to the passport office for 3 weeks to get his work done). ravindra being the he is, simply said he doesnt care and asked him to get out. meanwhile at the vip lounge the "royals" are getting impatient on being made to wait for 5 minutes and they rush in to confront ravindra. This is where we see the true colors of ravindra. he is a pussy when it comes to political power meekly listening to all the words thrown at him from the vip "royals".

anyway, after what looked like another 1 hour, he finally saw my papers, and checked my status on his system. turns out this hasnt even updated the document since i last submitted it on 27 June. Like a uneducated jackass, he kept asking the same questions whether i have submitted all the relevant documents. after getting an affirmative he meekly clicks "OK" to a set a of boxes, like he's on some drugs and says that my passport will reach in 2 days and sends me away.

after waiting for 5 days and no passport, i am back to square one. i call up the toll free number and find that the passport hasnt been changed to tatkaal yet !!!...This is the unfortunat state of the indian system today, where government officers think that they are not accountable to anyone no matter what the do. i will again need to go back to the passport office and meet the same , to move the file to the next stage.

what i would like to mention is, these guys are totally corrupt. agents get the work done in 3 days if paid around 10k. Since i went directly, ravindra and his cronies wouldnt get a penny. The agents however will fill ravindra' pockets which will help him bring up his child. no wonder we need to run from pillar to post to get the work done.

is there any hope that this can change. Can we see a time when people like ravindra and his staff o[censored]seless officers are kicked out for not doing their duty ? how do we redress our issues in a way that these people will never dare to act calously towards their work?

ravindra has a kid of his own, is this what he teaches his kid at home, to become an uncouth ? i hope ravindra and his family go through this ordeal and face the issue we are facing today. I hope they go to hell!

I had submitted my passport application form on 11th May 2010 and the police verification was also done but the status which was green previously "Your Police Verification report has been received by us, and your file is in line for further processing."

This has been same since last 1 month. Please let me know what is the actual status of my file and when my passport will be issued ?

I had submitted my passport application form on 5th May 2010 and the police verification was also done but the status which is showing with green symbol is "Your Police Verification report has been received by us, and your file is in line for further processing."

This has been same since last 2 months. Please let me know what is the actual status of my file and when my passport will be issued ?

but there is a spelling mistake in my last name which shows DEPTHI when my actual spelling is DEEPTHI
i have already cosulted the passport office in koramangala and have submitted the complaint but the correction still not yet done and its getting delay unneccessarily.
im supposed to give my exams in the month of aug which primarily requires my passport
kindly look into the problem and help me out
im loosing all my hopes waiting for my passport
