[Resolved]  SouthernRailways — Sluggish Progress of Broad Gauge Conversion b/w Mayiladuthurai - Villupuram

Broad gauge conversion from MAYILADUTHURAI to VILLUPPURAM was started on 1.1.2007. It was assured that the work would be completed in ONE YEAR.Even after THREE YEARS the work yet to be complete. The people of THANAJVUR, NAGAPATTINAM, THIRUVARUR and CUDDALORE districts are most affected. Several service orgonisations and people of Mayiladuthurai pressed the authorities by Demonstrations and Agitations but all are in vain.
The honourary president of Mayiladuthurai Chamber of Commerce sacrificed his life during the demonstration on 9th Feb. 2010. We expect that the authorities would act even at this stage.

It is painful to note that even after the presence of Hon'ble Union Minister from Mayiladuthurai Constitutency, the progress of work is at snail's speed. Non completion of the project in time not only adds cost to the project cost, but also on the other hand private bus operators are taking advantage and have raised the fare abnormally. Nobody knows whether Railways are maintaining any time limit for completion of a project. God knows when this project will get completed and rail services in this sector re-opened to public.
All the people in and around Mayiladuthurai suffered a lot. All the works has done and Railways tested the Linework. Still, they are not started service is completely not acceptable.
the general public especially the elders find it very difficult to travel out of Cuddalore by bus. The undue delay in gauge conversion is forcing the people to travel by bus from Cuddalore, Chidambaram and Mayiladuthurai. Chidambaram being a very important religious destination, one hopes the Southern railway takes up the inspection of the track and starts the train service in the Villupuram- Mayiladuthurai section without further delay.

SouthernRailways — Broad gauge conversion

Though the railways ministry announced that the Broad gauge line between Mayiladuthurai and Villupuram would be completed for public use within March 2010, the work is still slow. Is it possible to use the so called main line by the public even after three years?
I would like to see my village nellikuppam sees a train at the earliest
Sir,

Pls Information, When are you open villuppuram to Mayiladuthurai Train&Train Timings
now they are telling tht thirupathiripuliurs station renovatioon work pending, but real reason is private omni bus owners stopping the train... thanjavur, trichy, tiruvarur nagai, kumbakonum, mayavaram, and other near by town people will get more benifit when train service started..
but from above areas nearly 50 omni buses coming to chennai, if te train service started all bus will get affected, so the omni bus owners gave money to concern people to delay hte train service till june, since thr is a summer holiday,
but this govt got lot of money form them thts why delayinh it...
villupuram trichy got lineworks never taken tooooo much of months. but this 122 km takes atleast 10 yrs i think.
