TamilNadu State Electricity Board — Power cuts.

Address:Tamil Nadu

Dear Sir,

Sub: TNEB: Power cuts of late.

We are residents of Jayammal street, Arumbakkam and our Electricity board comes under the MMDA colony.
For the past two days, we have had Power cuts and in fact yesterday night from 1.30 a.m. upto 7.30 a.m. there was no power. In the morning of 19th, May, the Power cut happened again and thereafter Power was restored partially with one phase working and the other phases with very low voltages.
My father is just recoving from a Cardiac arrest and apart from that, I am an employee who needs to travel quite a distance to my work.
Inspite of lodging frequent complaints, the information given is abrupt and totally incorrect. We were first told power would be restored within two hours and when we called again at 8.00 p.m on 19th, May, they said power would be restored at 10 p.m. then again when nothing happened, they said they will look into it and finally, after lodging a complaint with 155333, power was restored at around 11.20 p.m. approx.,

This really hurts us residents who need to be properly fit for the next day's work and having an ill patient to care for in our house.

I would have appreciated if information atleast is provided correctly, plus or minus 10 minutes.

We also face once a week power cut for maintenance from 9.00 - 5.00, therefore is there really any excuse to say some cable needs to be repaired etc.,? Even if a cable or a transformer needed repairs, why does it take two days to get things right?

We are paying quite high bills for Electricity and this writer shares flats with seven other tenants. We were without water today due to non operation of motor.

In this day and age, when we hold our heads high as Indians, such inconsistencies do not speak well of ourselves. From an intellectual point of view, our country is tops so why do we have to live with all this? Isn't it time to pick ourselves up and hold our heads high?

When it comes to my state, i.e., Tamilnadu, I have a friendly argument with my relations who live in Karnataka and give them an example of how well things are managed in Tamilnadu.

Please treat this more as a way for us to improve rather than a comment. However, at times when we are faced with such inadequaties during rains or faults, our efficiency has to be in the forefront rather than our inefficiencies.

Thanking you,
With best regards,

Haseeb Modi.
