I also received an email from a George Baines and called the number that appeared at the bottom of the email and it sounded like a Nigerian and furthermore Tullow Oil is an International Company and will have professional people on their payroll especially in the HR department. He could barely speak English and then I went on to find Tullow Oil on the internet and checked out their contact details and believe it or not the Hr Contact person is a Georgina Baines which to me sounds like a female. So this now makes you think if he is legal in the UK or not???????????????

Surely the authorities can do something to people like this and this is not the first time I received junk emails like this.

Tullow Oil statement:

We are aware that a number of job offers purporting to come from Tullow Oil or its principal offices ('Tullow') have been made via email together with a request for personal information. The persons or company responsible for these offers have no connection whatsoever with Tullow. Under all circumstances, Tullow only makes a job offer following a formal interview process with candidates.
I received e-mail after filing a job application from a job board called jobvertise.com. Later got a e-mail from Harry K Grant with supposedly Tullow Oil PLC. The e-mail contained an additional job application in Microsoft Word format for me to fill out and e-mail back. Not to much information was asked for in this application just phone number, home address and e-mail address. The form asked for work history which they all ready had in my resume and jobvertise.com application and also asked questions like "How do you approach a technical problem? Give an example." and "How long do you think it would be before you will make a significant contribution to the team/company?". Four days later I get a job offer with salary and benefits that ask me to sign the employment agreement and e-mail it back to Owen Wilson Tullow Oil. What got my attention was spelling and grammar mistakes in the document. The e-mails came from and I was to reply to [protected]@tullowoil-plc.com, looks legit. Thing is Tullow oil careers e-mail is [protected]@tullowoil.com see with no -plc. At this point the scamer does not have much unless there was some kind of virus with the Microsoft Word attachment that got past Norton anti-virus. The employment agreement said Tullow Oil would advance on month wages and moving expenses so I believe the scammers next step was to ask for a bank account number to supposedly wire the money to. They would then have my name, bank number, address and signature. Dame sham it was a real nice job offer. I don't know if jobvertise.com is legit or just a front.
Hi Guys,

Thanks for your previous contributions. Needles to say that the only reason that I’ve read this thread is because they are “at it again” as of 11th February 2011.

Spammers – They’re a seriously sad lot of parasitic !

Cheers

Good Day Guys,

The whole thing about the so called tullows is a fraud.BEWARE.Thanks
Yes indeed they are. With the Tullow Oil scammers also be aware of Walter Ferguson, claiming to be an Immigration Lawyer who will handling your case and Howard Clark, Manager Accounts Department Gatwick Assurance.
Cheers
Me
I have the same problem. I was contacted by Statoil PLC in London. The e-mail Was [protected]@statoil-plc.com and he made a long interview with me trhu e-mails but never asked me to talk to him by phone. The name of Statoil representative was Joseph C. Cole (Phone: +44 (0)[protected]
+44 (0)[protected].
. After the first process, he sent me the contract. I signed and forwarded to him. After that he forwarded me to Mr Steve MacCarthy who had the e-mail [protected]@gmail.com. After talking to him, he forwarded me to the laywer called Walter Ferguson who had the email [protected]@walter-lawyer.com. And so on, they forwared me to Gatwick Assurance where I should pay 960pounds to get a Traveller assurance. All these guys are a fake. DO not Trust!! Be aware.

Cheers
I’ll second Marcuscbv’s experience. Saw a job posting on Ziprecruiter from Statoil UK, PLC Pelham Bell Pottinger, 4th Floor, Holborn Gate, 330 High Holborn London, WC1V 7QD, England. and applied. Filled out a questionnaire and was offered a position in an extremely short amount of time. No interview of any sort. The signature of each email was from Joseph C. Cole with an email of [protected]@statoil-plc.com. I guessed something was fishy because of the terrible grammar and inconsistencies. Called the real Statoil Office and they confirmed of the ongoing scam.
I'd like to SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH Marcuscbv's and heavysteel71's experiences! I saw the same posting on Ziprecruiter, filled out the questionnaire and got the same job offer in less than a week WITHOUT any type of interview. I WAS actually in the process of negotiating the base rate in the offer letter when I saw his name at the bottom of ANOTHER job posting listing software that I knew Statoil didn't use (know a director @ the sw company)! This is what tipped me off. So I too called the REAL Statoil office here in Houston, which confirmed it was a scam they were trying to get taken care of. PLEASE, PLEASE don't fall into the trap and reveal any personal info that can be used against you or used to steal your identity! BEWARE!!
What the hell! I almost fall for the same scam by this guy: Joseph C. Cole, HR Administrator, StatOil Plc, +44 (0)[protected], +44 (0)[protected]. oil scheduler job!. I hope that guy rots in hell, he owes me the 3 hours of my life I spend filling out his goddam questionaire!! Be aware, this sucks! Got offered a job without even an interview, go figure...
Ditto, Ditto, Ditto, Ditto...Joesph C. Cole and his other accomplice, Robert K. Wilson Project Director PLC succeeded in making me an offer of employment or a position in London. Apparently their approach has been refined and their use of the Queens English much improved over time. I was somewhat surprised at an offer being tendered or such a position without a physical interview much less a phone interview. Another number they used not previously mentioned was +44 (0)[protected]. When I received the contract I immediately sought to search or more details on the company and it was not too difficult to determine that this was a scam. The real tip off was their request for ME to pay the processing fees associated with obtaining a Work Permit related to employment in England. Great catch to all above. Thanks for posting this credible information!!!
