[Resolved]  Wonder Funkey — Process Issues with the card system for Entry/Exit

Wonder Funkey is a Game Parlour at Pune where they have Bowling Alley and other Games . They have a Card system where one has to pre-pay and get a card for the same value from the outside window. A machine allows you entry after you swipe the card. On Oct 26, 2008 we went there for bowling. We got the cards after paying up on the window, we swiped our cards and entered the parlour. After playing a couple of games and using the card at a food stall inside we still had some money left on the card which we thought we'd encash it on the window outside. When we passed the machine and were going to proceed to the window counter the security guy asked for the card. When we told him we had some money left on the card he simple said during swipe-in the amount become zero and we are supposed to claim the amount at the inside-counter before passing through the machine. We asked him to call the manager in the hope that he/she can understand our situation and would help. But the lady simply pointed to the notice near the gate which stated that we need to encash the remaining amount before swiping out. There were 3 o[censored]s and nobody had seen that message and we told her that it is very easy to miss that message but she wouldn't listen. She said this is the first time it happened and everybody reads it and she cannot help us with that. We told her it didn't matter if everybody reads it - the very fact that 3 o[censored]s didn't read it and passed thru' the gate is enough to prove that just a notice doesn't work. At least the security gaurd can ask folks before they swipe in - but the manager wouldn's listen and she kept on persisting that there is no problem with the process and the system. Just then another family came out and the security guard took the cards from them and when they enquired about the remaining amount he promptly said that the data gets erased after swiping and nothing can be done now. We immediately pointed this out to the manager who was still there. She was greatly embarrassed and was at a loss for words. I believe this is a ploy to keep the money from folks who would just accept their arguement and not counter it - like the way we did. I stongly suggest folks not to get cheated this way and raise their voice if such a situation arises. If somebody can analyse their data as to how much money they make this way the truth would come out!
