[Resolved]  Crizal — Defective Crizal Antireflective Lens Coating

I have two pairs of eyeglasses with Crizal antireflective coating, both purchased and made at the same time. The lenses on both pairs are showing significant fine-hair crackling covering the full surface on all lenses. I have been told by my retailer who contacted the Crizal lab to determine the cause, that it is something that can happen when the lenses are exposed to high heat/chemicals. As a lifelong wearer of eyeglasses I assure you that I do not store or keep my eyeglasses in high heat nor do I wear them when using hairspray, putting on my makeup or have them near any other chemical. No other eyeglasses (lenses) that I own regardless of their age exhibit this problem, and my habits have not changed.

I do not know when this "crackling" first appeared, however, the fact that is exists on two pairs of glasses that were manufactured at the same time is cause for concern regarding the production. As my lenses are no longer under warranty (I purchased them 18 months ago), there is no resolution from Crizal. Unfortunately, I am not able to provide a high quality photograph showing the crackling as it is very fine and the resolution on my camera does not capture it.

At this point, I am frustrated and disappointed in the response received to date. That the cause would be placed on me as the user rather than a production defect is troubling and concerning.
