In july 2013 i bought their flagship leatheriite sofa set from durian furnitures. While purchasing the sofa, i was told that although the product assurance is for 5 years but it is no good that unless it is intentionally damaged, nothing can happen to the sofa for next 8 - 10 years.
However, within 2 years the stitching and even the leatherette material of the sofa is pealing on its own. We made several telehphonic complaints to the durian dealer at delhi but to no avail. Ultimately, one fine day i get a call from durian delhi supplier that we have some dues pending and hence they cant attend the repair. We were shocked since we had settled all the dues when the sofa was purchased and even if there were dues how come the company didnot bother to contact us for past 2 years. Only when we contacted the company for the sofa repair, they came up with an excuse that we owe them some amount. We declined their claim and made a written complaint on their website. After couple of days of the complaint, we now got a very arrogant email saying that since 1 year warranty is over, the repair is on chargable basis and they can send the team for inspection only if we agree to pay for the repair.
This is very surprising as to how the company representative can be so audacious to put terms and conditions even for inspection. I am now planning to get the sofa examined by a third party and may be i shall drag durian to consumer court since they have given us substandard material.
We request all the consumers out there to reconsider their decision before choosing durian furniture.
