[Resolved]  Ethos Watches India — fake tissot watch purchased in new delhi duty free shop

I was on business trip and while retuning back to mauritius on 31st jan 2019, i dropped at ethos shop at departure in new delhi duty free to buy a tissot watch pr 100 sport chic t101.‪910.22.116.00‬ for my wife. As this model was not available the shop assistant propose me to buy another model pr100 model tissot t101.‪910.11.121.00‬ saying it was the latest one and the bestseller collection. i bought the watch for inr 17, 210 with the enclosed warranty card. I gifted the watch to my wife on valentine’s day.
After one month o[censored]sage watch my wife noted some scratch on bracelet. we brought the watch to one of tissot authorized dealer in mauritius who told us that they wont be able to assist as the watch was not bought in mauritius and secondly there is high probability that the watch is a high end copy with the reason quoted below below.
1. The mother of pear dial in is much brighter with more colourful reflection/rays in light while the one that was sold to us is matte and hardly has any colourful reflection in light.
2. The stainless steel bracelet is more shiner and have an authenticated reference number engraved which is the case for all genuine watch bracelet.
3. The luminous hand and index hour marker which is a typical specification for any genuine tissot watch
My wife has written back on 30th mar 19 to ethos stating her grievance where afterward the ceo personal secretary contacted her. The latter requested her to courier back the watch to ethos for inspection and servicing. On 16 april 2019 she couriered back the watch to tissot by dhl but same was blocked by the indian customs as ethos could not provide relevant kyc / export documents for the watch. The watch was released later after one month time on 15th may 2019, after we made several follow ups with dhl mauritius.
The watch was acknowledge by ethos ceo personal secretary and we were advised that the watch was sent to ethos servicing shop who confirm that the watch is genuine and will now be sent to tissot india for further confirmation. as i did not received any update, on 30th may i contacted ceo secretary and was advised that the watch has to be resend to tissot india again and will come back to us. We inform the latter that we want all to be sorted out at the earliest and we requested for a formal confirmation from tissot that the watch is original and genuine and does have the above 3 listed specifications.
On 19th june 2019, ceo personal secretary shared a mail from tissot india quoting “wo 46119 kept ready, buffing done without any cost” and requested the address to courier the watch. She sent us a pdf copy of the mail by whatsapp from the mail exchanges we noted a mismatch in the watch serial no. Quoted. On the warranty cardthe serial number is kme98hhs88 and the reference used by ethos id r15006 (By ethos) and wo46119 was quoted by swatch group which we unfortunately cannot connect and tally with the watch sold that was sold to us. Moreover we could not received confirmation for item 1 and 3 around the luminosity of dial in and hand and index hour maker. (Mail attached for your reference).
As such we went back to ceo personal secretary on item 3 (Hand maker luminescence) and we were surprised to be told that specification 3 is not available in the current tissot t101.‪910.11.121.00‬ pr100 women sport chic but rather in men’s watch. This was the least answer / baseless argument we can expected from watch experts of an organization which is listed on the indian market.
Therefore we extracted different links from other online retailers and shared with ethos as we wanted refund of our money since we were fooled by ethos all these time and the layer could not provide any concrete evidence to us on the watch authenticity and the watch does not have the specifications of a genuine authentic watch where the hand and maker are luminescent.
Last week, i was travelling in dubai and drop at rivoli shop as well as dubai duty free shop to check the watch and upon checking the tissot t101.‪910.11.121.00‬ pr100 women sport chic, i noted that the watch was really different from the one i purchased and indeed the hand and maker are lumincent.
When i went back to ceo secretary, i was told that this is tissot problem and not ethos and her company wont be able to refund the money as i should go n deal with tissot directly. My wife and myself sent two mails to ethos which remained unresponded up till now.
Certainly tissot cannot sell a watch with same make and model in dubai and sell the same watch with no hand maker luminescence in india duty free shop.
I was very disappointed with such ungrateful attitude as being a watch seller, the least i expected ethos to act as per their high values and ethics they preach on their website and not to compromise with fake quality up to the point of lying and covering up instead of safeguarding the interest of their customers and protect them from fake goods and malpractices.
Hence we request to be duly refunded.
