I bought a Lava phone A71 on 23/05/2016 from International Value Retail Pvt. Ltd. (Mobiliti World) Vikas Marg-1, Store No. A-61B, Main Vikas Marg, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi-110092 vide invoice no. SP/VIKAS/MW0024/00276/2016-17. Just after two months from purchase date the phone stopped charging through its original charger. I visited the Lava Service Centre (Sai Communication, U-196, 2nd Floor, Shakarpur, Delhi-110092) in the month of august 2016. Then they accepted that the charging system was faulty and repaired the phone in warranty. They did not provided me the copy of repair jobsheet. Now, not even before the completion of 6 months from the purchase date and just 2 months after repair, the same problem reoccurred.
I again visited the same service center. On examining the phone they stated that said that the USB connector PIN is physically damaged and it will not be covered under warranty. I protested this statement and insisted them as the PIN was changed by them in the earlier repair and if the same problem has arisen again then it is the fault of either hardware in the phone or the Charger. These things as per me are manufacturing defects and should be repaired without any inconvenience to me. But to my surprise they refused to accept this and forced me to believe that it my induced fault and it will not be covered in warranty. On my repeated arguments they accepted to replace the charger but refused to repair the hardware unless I pay for it. When I asked them to state these facts (for not repairing the phone in warranty) to me in writing they bluntly refused and asked me to do whatever I can. Since, no other option was left with me I deposited the phone & charger with them.
To me it is cheating on the part of the company to deny repairs from manufacturing defects even under 6 months of the warranty. It is my biggest fault to buy a LAVA phone. I was foxed by MS Dhoni's advertisement that best part of the LAVA phone is after sales service. To me this is blatant violation of consumer rights to deny the warranty and a strict action should be taken against the service center.
