LazyPay — Double billing

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against LazyPay, a digital payment service provider, for an alarming issue that has arisen in my recent interaction with their services. I believe it is imperative to bring this matter to the attention of the Consumer Forum in order to seek a just and timely resolution, as my attempts to resolve it directly with LazyPay have proven futile.

On July 21st, 2023, I executed a payment transaction using the CRED app to settle a bill with Apollo. Subsequently, I received notifications confirming the successful completion of this transaction. However, my peaceful experience was soon marred by incessant calls from LazyPay in the days that followed, demanding payment for an amount I found utterly perplexing and unauthorized.

Upon undertaking a comprehensive inquiry and investigation into this matter, I unearthed the disconcerting fact that a transaction, unbeknownst to me and executed without my consent, had been initiated through the LazyPay app subsequent to the payment I had made via the CRED app. To make matters more bewildering, it has come to light that two transactions were carried out through LazyPay – one successful and one unsuccessful – resulting in an erroneous billing amounting to approximately 2000 rupees.

I wish to assert that I possess concrete evidence confirming my execution of only one transaction for the sum of 989 rupees, as corroborated by my CRED app transaction records. In my pursuit of a harmonious resolution, I have made numerous attempts to clarify this discrepancy with LazyPay's customer care department. I have consistently offered to settle the correct amount of 989 rupees, which I indisputably owe. However, my earnest efforts have been met with persistent harassment, with LazyPay representatives inundating me with an excessive volume of phone calls, averaging 5 to 10 calls per day.

This distressing situation has caused me considerable anguish and inconvenience. It is my fervent belief that I should not be held accountable for an erroneous billing of 2000 rupees, which I neither authorized nor endorsed. I have attached pertinent evidence of my payment via the CRED app for your perusal.

In light of the foregoing, I urgently request the Consumer Forum's intervention to instigate a thorough investigation into this matter. My primary objective is to rectify the billing error and put an end to the unwarranted harassment emanating from LazyPay's collection department. I implore the Consumer Forum to compel LazyPay to rectify the billing discrepancy, ensuring that I am billed only for the correct amount of 989 rupees.

I kindly request that the Consumer Forum facilitate a prompt resolution of this matter. I propose that LazyPay address this issue satisfactorily within a reasonable timeframe, not exceeding 10 business days from the date of receipt of this complaint.

Should LazyPay fail to comply with this request, I reserve the right to escalate this issue to the relevant regulatory authorities and consider pursuing legal action. I sincerely hope it does not come to such measures and that we can arrive at a civilized and equitable resolution.

I anticipate the Consumer Forum's prompt attention to this matter and a swift resolution in the best interest of justice and consumer rights.
