Misleading and Cheating Consumers at Homecenter, City Center, MG Road, Gurgaon (by lifestyle)
On the evening of 9th July’ 22, at Homecenter store, City Center, MG Road, I picked up few articles (placemats, runner, mugs, tissue box, planter, coasters, etc) from a counter with board claiming flat 50% (refer to pictures attached from one of the adverts). On billing counter, to my surprise, not even a single item was below the advert had any kind of discount, infact they all were on full price. Their misleading labelling of items and misleading advertisements costed my 2 hours in selecting products, wastage of energy and effort as consumer. Their limited untrained staff have no clue what they selling at what discounts. Upon insisting to speak to manager of the store, Mr. Ravi (refer picture) arrives and instead of admitting mistake, he kept arguing baselessly to claim that the store is right in putting misleading adverts on products.
Mr Ravi claimed the advert discount placecard states ‘on selected items’ which could be any in store. To my shock, not even a single item from the whole display was on any discount. Multiple similar adverts are placed on various counters with no discounted items.
As a customer, am I expected to survey the whole store finding items on promotion? 5-6 customers standing by also supported stating their adverts are misleading and cheating customers. The wrong intention of store came up more clearly on arrival of higher manager, Mr. Vinay Bhandhari when he shamelessly admitted that he is doing purposively to cheat and mislead customers.
This incidence and shameless misleading customer due to wrong promotions, misleading adverts and then blaming consumer for not understanding the advert right is not expected from a reputed brand such as Home Centre. Mis leading afvert has resulted in waste on my time, energies and lost trust in brand.
Would request for the action to be taken agains false malpractices and using cheap gimicks to cheat / mislead consumer.
