Mahanagar Gas — Excess gas Consumption Security Deposit
Dear Sirs, BP No : [protected] Sub : Gas Consumption security deposit I have a Gas Connection with Mahanagar Gas and I have been paying my bills regularly for the past 5 years. My bill normally comes to less than INR 300/- for two months. I have paid a Security deposit of Rs 500/- which is already lying with Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) . Recently MGL has billed us for additional security deposit of Rs 125 per month and plans to increase the deposit to Rs 750/. Since my bill for two months is less than Rs 300/- at an average, I think that the deposit they are requesting is too much. Should I pay this deposit? I am sure that there must be other consumers also who are affected by this. Kindly advice. Bella Christina Fernandes email : [protected]@gmail.com Was this information helpful?

As per the call with the customer care executive of MGL, they will charge Rs.700 every year if the average consumption for last 6 bills goes above Rs. 750. This is insane. If I use the MGL, say, for 10 years, then I would end up paying Rs. 7000 in security deposit. For 20 years, it would be Rs. 14000 in excess just for security deposit. There should be a limit on such deposit. They cannot just keep our hard earned money just in the name of security deposit.
What is the solution for this? How can I file a case against the company for such practices?
Someone please help on this.
