National Highway Authority of India — Atrocious behaviour of staff at Paranur toll plaza, near Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu

Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The incident happened on Paranur toll plaza near chengalpattu in tamilnadu. On the night of 20.07.2015, I was returning home with my family including my mother and sister in law, in my car from chengalpattu towards chennai. As I showed my Govt ID card (am a Govt Doctor), the guy within toll booth let me go. As I went yards from the toll booth, 5 people who were in staf[censored]niform, all heavily drunk, surrounded our car, seized my id card, asked me to pay the amount and called me by bad names. I explained I would have paid in the booth itself, if i was asked to pay for it. One supervisor was called he too dint address the situation. They tried to damage my vehicle, and tried to pull me out forcibly. All were recorded in the CCTV camera there. Paying toll amount is not a matter for me, I need the faintest of respect from the staff. I ask the authorities to keep a check on such drunkards/gundas who are threatening the life of common people like me. Is there no protection for people who travel at night? Travelling in night with family has become a nightmare. Toll free complaint number/helpline number has not been displayed in the toll plaza. Helpline number is not printed in the toll ticket. The authorities are flouting the law as they wish, we people who pay our hard earned money are ill treated. I request local police authorities to man the respective toll plazas, to avoid such incidents.

I am a govt doctor and have to pass this Chengalpattu toll for visiting various schools to screen children and take them to hospital and also for official meeting in chengalpattu. our headquarters is in chengalpattu and we have to pass that toll in our govt official vehicle for all official meetings. But these people in booth ill treat us and dont know to talk properly even after seeing our id card. 10 men surround our car and shout as soon as any govt official car comes and create big scene. It is very embarrassing for us. Please take action on these gundas and please tell them to atleast give some respect to us.

This incident happened almost 3 years back. I don't know, is it worth sharing here.
Will our complaints be heard and answered. can soembody give surity ?

I was Coming from Tindivanam to Chennai. I was driving a Charitable Trust Vehicle. When we went a night before the toll was collected at one rate and while returning they were asking a higher rate. I enquired why is it ? The Toll Guy sitting at the counter was wearing sabari malai uniform and we were talking very smoothly and genuinely.
But all of sudden, one guy came from no where and started talking rubbish and with out respect.

I had 3 elderly people 70+ & one gentlemen who has a very saint like nature. travelling with me, so i could not respond to him in his tone or mannerism.
I said him to talk with respect. He was still shouting and raising his voice.
(because of the guts that, he was within the toll box and he has gundas around in that toll who are noway connected to them. They are simply there for unruly behaviors and to threat public. ) I have heard many people complaining about this toll gate unruly behaviors before. There were north indian guys before, that time the toll booth was smoothly running, after sometime, due to political involvement, Local gundas entered the toll plaza and started doing Rowdism. There are days, when our van cross this toll, they have given us the option like, " pay 20 and pass without ticket. or pay original fare and get ticket ". Such kind o[censored]nruly things happen here.

Anyway, that guy was still arguing with me in bad words and the elderly person said me to push off from the place. i took the said toll and still this guy was talking nonsense. I had just said, to stop it and move on.
He suddenly then poured the glass of water on me which he had in his hand. I was so angry that i went down to hit him, but realized i had elderly people with me and one good man, whom i cannot put to such bad situation. So i got back into my vehicle and pushed off. Is there someone to control this Rowdism ?
Dear Sir / Madam,

I was hearing from multiple sources that the TOLL near chengalpattu
Feedback from customers :
1) This toll plaza al ready contract date expried. but till date toll tax paying. government and private cheating the all people

2) Not an organized toll. Charges more
3) The employees do not know how to talk with traveller's.. They are rude.
4) Not sure why it even exists. Only humans are there to stop the car. No indication of any sorts as to whether it's still legal to collect fees from this toll.

Request your help to confirm if this is Legal, and the money goes to government only .
