My daughter had put up her Medical books for sale on OLX. One person called her up and said he wants to pay the advance for books by GPAY and will come and collect the same next day.

He posed as Mr. xxxx/Mr. yyy was appearing in other account. He made my daughter scan the QR Code on her mobile as he told that he is an army person and is using the army scanning machine. He made her repeatedly do the QR Code scan sighting various reasons that wrong amount was debited to his account and she needs to pay him back. She trusted him and as she found that Rs. 27000/- was debited to our account she blocked him and all bank accounts. We have lost 27000 rs on OLX due to the fact that OLX is not sensitive to the needs of Students. These kids are gullible and naive and think they can trust the person as he is offering to buy on a reputed platform.
Now, we have blocked GPAY, OLX, BANK Accounts and also reported the matter to CYBER CRIME CELL. We as citizens should increase awareness that all these websites give access to fraudsters to dupe innocent people. She wanted to pay her next fees and now we have even less money than what we had before.
In the process fake identity cards of Army men are being circulated. They are saying " Hum desh ke liye Jeete aur Desh ke liye Marte hain". These are cheap tactics which if not stopped youngsters will stop believing in the integrity of real ARMY men.
What recourse do we have in such circumstances. Should we say we are victims of a bad system that teaches us distrust. What are these online platforms for if they can't safeguard the interests of buyers and sellers. A secure platform is what we need and not a meeting place. Will OLX refund us the money. We have already lodged complaint with OLX India.
