I purchased a Restolex spring mattress In Kerala about two years ago. It was found to be defective within 15 days and complained to the dealer and the manufacturer. Finally, the Bangalore-based company's representative came home, inspected the product and agreed that it was a defective piece, noting that it belonged a lot of defective mattresses sent to dealers in Kerala by mistake. It was replaced - but after six months of dogged and protracted effort from my side.
But my relief was short-lived. After a month, I found that the new mattress is equally sub-standard. The springs jut out at the sides and in the middle as was the case with the first mattress. I have been writing to the company for several months now. The company has not bothered to reply or replace the product. This is utterly disgusting - from a company that claims to be a 'leader in spring mattresses'. I paid nearly Rs10, 000 for the mattress and there is a 10-year warranty on it. There is no justifiable reason for the company not to replace it.
I would also request the authorities in Karnataka, through these columns, to take action against the company for giving customers false promises, especially on warranties. Was this information helpful? |
