[Resolved]  ACT Fibernet — fake data usage reporting by act fibernet

My act broadband account #:[protected].

Act broadband has been reporting fake data usage since may 2017. As a result our monthly quota gets over fast and we have to pay extra for their fup or flexibytes.

Our data usage has been under 100gb for years, and then suddenly we have been noticing very high data usage reported by act broadband since may 2017 - and this does not match with our actual usage.

Moreover, every month the fake data usage is increasing.in june 2017, they reported it as 400gb, then in july 2017 as 600gb and now in august (Aug - 11) it is reported as 350gb just for 11 days!!

We filed complaint with them but they did not do anything about it. (Complaint ticket/reference no : [protected])

There are many complaints against them about the exact same issue. This is scam they are running on customers.

This issue has NOT been solved yet.

ACT representative told us that they need permission to monitor the websites we browse to understand our data usage. This is a serious privacy violation - they cannot monitor the sites any customer views.

They have already committed one violation by fake data usage reports, and on top of that they are asking our permission to commit another violation (privacy violation).

ACT reps keep calling to say that they will fix but it has not yet been fixed. On top of that, they sent me an email saying that if I do not pay today, there will be service interruption.

- Firstly, they gave fake data usage report and reduced my internet speed to less than 1GB upload/download since Aug 12th, when my plan is 100 Mbps speed.
- Secondly, they are asking access to view my browsing history, which is a serious privacy violation.
- Thirdly, now this threat about service interruption.

And this is happening when i escalated this issue to their top management - including their CEO (Bala Malladi) and Nodal officer.
